marchy22

Update
Aus 'A' 32-1 in the ninth over, 21 remain tonight, Claydon and Brathwaite continue. Davis 17* and Klinger 7*.
4:57pm
brandonia
Thanks for that Yvette and good work too! I can imagine it wouldn't be cheap in fairness. If I win the Euromillions I too can offer sponsorship!
tomb
Forget that, Yvette can do the commentary herself. Or how about Sir Gareth (Peter)from this chat, he knows how to talk about cricket
marchy22
very flattered chris, when i win the euros this friday i will sponsor the radio for durham indefinitely and invest in a couple of players for the club
chrissafc
radio marchy has a ring to it
Response to Brandonia
This is something we did look into last season and I have spent some time with the people at Somerset who organise it. We would need to secure sponsorship to be able to deliver this service. I'll keep pushing it though!
4:50pm
bryn
The mb show (marty n brands)
brandonia
Serious question Yvette - could the club not look into doing their own?? I'd even be happy to chip in if Marty is given the job! I'd be his summariser for nowt aswell!
brandonia
Serious question Yvette - could the club not look into doing their own?? I'd even be happy to chip in if Marty is given the job! I'd be his summariser for nowt aswell!
Wicket!
Cowan is trapped lbw by Brathwaite for 4! Aus 'A' 21-1. Klinger joins Davis (15*)
4:48pm
tomb
Will miss Martin if he has to leave
brandonia
BBC NUFC's coverage is pretty limited anyway, with them only doing home CC's, whereas some of the other counties cover it so e tens overly that they even have FM frequencies covered. Marty does a cracking job too. Can we not do our own Yvette?!! Like Somerset do?!!
tomb
Ok, good, I didnt want to say in case got somebody in trouble but its straight from the horses mouth really. It is pathetic, ok not many listeners but surely its the BBc's responsibility to keep British institutions like County Cricket covered.
brandonia
That's a massive shame. It's a great service. Plus when you think of some of the rubbish they do spend money on its terrible they can't find the funding (which I imagine it is) for county cricket.
keenasmustard
It's definite tomb. It must be official now becuase I heard about it the other day.
SpickandSpan
There's an article on don't chase the wide ones backing up Tomb. We're world number one in test cricket and the bbc will spend the money on darts, disgraceful
tomb
How many overs are left today?
tomb
Its been rumoured for a while now, I was suprised that it lasted this season. I don't want to say as its not official yet, let just say from a very reliable source...I think may well be across the board
brandonia
Where have you heard that Tomb? Massive shame if so, is that across the board or just on BBC NUFC?
tomb
Sounds like the BBC county cricket radio coverage will be axed at the end of the season, shame.
Update
Aus 'A' 19-0 after 4 overs, Cowan 3* and Davis 15*
4:35pm
Response to Brandonia
No radio commentary for this match.
4:33pm
brandonia
Is there any commentary on today?
Ridgeley
bryn speling was never my strong point

chrissafc

tomb
Bryn, what are you spaced out on and is that allowed in the ground?
tomb
Good recovery from the lower order again
keenasmustard
Damn, didn't even get a batting point (Ha Ha).
Durham post 197
Durham post a first innings total of 197 - Brathwaite is the final wicket to fall, trapped lbw on 16. Coughlin 29*.
4:00pm
bryn
*quite literally ;-!
safcluke
Surprised not to see Lyon play.
keenasmustard
There would probably have been a big crowd there this morning hoping to see Jennings bat.
bryn
Hard to tell how many are here when we are all spaced out
tomb
If theres applause there must be at least 5 people there
Response to keenasmustard
It may have been - I just heard the applause - If I've done him out of 2 runs I apologise!
3:36pm
keenasmustard
Cricinfo wrong again. They're saying it was a six.

3:19pm
tomb
Thats right Bryn, it makes it a little more exciting for me.
chrissafc
Myburgh scoring 34 on a "difficult batting wicket" will send out a message to the selectors
chrissafc
but yes i agree richardson would miss out if mustard was to be available. i asked a question about richardson at the q&a. wasn't that convinced with the answer as i think the lad has earned a play in both the cb40 and the lvcc format. he played a big part in our win vs middlesex
chrissafc
the way cook spoke about mustard, the injury "not brilliant news" - they drained fluid but its swollen again.
bryn
So it was tom b,but you prefer tomb? Gotcha :-)
marchy22
If mustards back next week whats the betting they both miss out to Muchall
chrissafc
myburgh and richardson hit most of those runs
tomb
Its confused me as well, I prefer Tomb without the space
marchy22
61-1 then the next 77 runs for 7 wickets
Update
Bowling change as McDermott returns...Wood was the batsman that was dismissed.
3:06pm
marchy22
New day same old batting problems
keenasmustard
Hang on is it Coughlin or Wood that's gone? Cricinfo says Coughlin.
keenasmustard
Welcome to first class cricket Paul.
Wicket...
Wood is bowled by Holland. Durham 136-8 after 45.1 overs. Mitchell Claydon is the next man in.
3:02pm
We're back!
Covers are off and the players are heading back out there - Durham resume on 136-7, Coughlin and Wood at the crease.
3:00pm
bryn
Tomb, this has puzzled me for a while are you tomb or tom b?
tomb
Cant stand Twitter meself, probly cos I've got no friends to tweet to.....
Latest
Still drizzling here - the groundstaff are poised and ready to remove the covers as and when we can!
2:49pm
bryn
Joey blackwell!
chrissafc
can't imagine cook been amused with players tweeting/retweeting so soon after been dismissed with the bat
tomb
Its a Durham select team vs amother select team, but thanks Chris I forgot we had a game at home. Anonomous comments being removed again re Blackie
keenasmustard
They;ll still be Glamorgan to me.
chrissafc
next sunday? durham play welsh dragons at home
tomb
I see Blackie describes himself as full time rainwatcher and not even part time cricketer. Theres a match on next Sunday at Washington cricket club, anyone know if its a decent ground?
chrissafc
good knock by myburgh as well.
Rain....
We're off for rain...Durham 136-7.
2:42pm
bryn
Few spots of rain in the air

2:33pm
Response to keenasmustard
Brian is off for the next few weeks for health reasons so Richie has stepped in for us in the meantime.
2:31pm
keenasmustard
Yvette I meant to ask this at the Middlesex game and apologies if someone already has asked this, but why wasn't Brian Hunt scoring in that game?
Bowling change
Coulter-Nile returns for Australia A - Durham 109-5, Myburgh 17* and Richardson 11*
2:03pm
Durham 100
Hundred up for Durham, Myburgh 17* and Richardson 7*. Starc and Holland continue.

Play resumes after lunch - Starc continues at the Finchale End, Durham 91-5 with Myburgh and Richardson at the crease.
1:41pm
bryn
Im heading on down,i take it it wouldnt be advisable to wear my tom jones facemask?
BrianT
The damage is fairly near the boundary. With forethought the Mdsx game could have been played on a wicket nearer the pavilion and the damaged area would have been outside of the ropes. We would not then be talking about it now. Just wish we'd had it 30 year ago and I could have gone to see Del Shannon and Roy Orbison.
chrissafc
i'm also not at the game. just passing on comments that the recent concert has left parts of the pitch a mess. shame given the good work the groundstaff put in but keeping the pitch in good condition. money talks though and the club need to host these events to make money
tomb
I think someone will come in for Muchall, maybe Myburgh or Blackwell? Though I've been saying that for a while now.
BrianT
Don't care what the groundstaff think. They are paid to do a job, and do it very well. If more people turned up to watch the cricket then maybe the shows wouldn't be needed. In answer to your next question, no I'm not there at present. Will be along at 4.
Ridgeley
why the humour by pass?
BrianT
There's only a couple of weeks between a good and a bad haircut. Mid August it will be hardly visible. If ground hadn't been so wet it would be barely visible now. Lucky we don't play at Old Trafford every week. Now that is a disgrace.
chrissafc
anyone at the middlesex game will have seen it. spoke to 1 of the groundstaff and they aren't amused with it.
chrissafc
why the raised eyebrow?
Ridgeley
*raises eyebrow*
chrissafc
no. it's clearly visible where the walk out boards were placed on the pitch, it's left a right mess.
Ridgeley
chrissafc did you actually witness tom with a spade messing up the pitch?
chrissafc
agree peter, it will be the same
peter_brent
The fact that he hasn't be registered all seasons suggests that to be a fact. I think we can all work out Cook's top 6 for the next CC game.
Mark
Thanks Yvette
Lunch
Lunch here - Durham 91-5, Myburgh 9* and Richardson 5*. Back shortly!
1:03pm
chrissafc
he was 12th man last friday
tomb
I dont think Jennings was a shoe in for the county team anyway from what Geoff Cook has been saying this season.
chrissafc
the pitch near the county durham stand is a mess thanks to tom jones
Response to Mark
We haven't been given a timescale as of yet.
12:55pm
Latest
Durham 86-5 with Muburgh 9* and Richardson yet to score - Holland and Starc are the current attack.
12:54pm
Mark
How long will it take for Jennings' registration to get sorted out?
peter_brent
Unfortunately we are learning nothing new here and for all those who want Blackwell back in the CC, he has not got any form to suggest he should be. Shame Jennings couldn't play.
Ridgeley
i blame tom jones...
Response to tomb
I'd say there are a few hundred..I think numbers will increase as the day goes on and people leave work early!
12:50pm
Stan Drop
Uh Oh. Looks likes business as usual for this season.
Wicket...
Blackwell is caught behind off Holland's first ball. Durham 75-5. Michael Richardson is the next man in.
12:46pm
tomb
Is anyone there today? Would be meself if it wasnt sandwiched between two county games
Bowling change
Bowling change for Australia A - Jon Holland comes on at the Lumley End. Durham 75-4, Myburgh 4* and Blackwell 0*
12:44pm
tomb
Same story, wicket doesnt do the batsmen any favours. I said on the forum that it might help us stay up as there will be results on it and few draws but got shot down by other forum members.
Wicket...
Durham 75-4 as Stokes is caught by Starc off McDermott for 8. Ian Blackwell joins Myburgh (4*)
12:36pm
Wicket...
Stoneman is caught by Bailey off McDermott for 25. Durham 66-3. The next man in is Johann Myburgh.
12:26pm
tomb
Yet he plunders runs for the second team. My solution, move him to 6 if we keep playing him
chrissafc
average of 9.58
marchy22
Disappointing from Muchall again
tomb
Shame, needed a score.

11:46am
chrissafc
yeah cook spoke highly of stoneman in the Q&A last week
Bowling change
Durham 29-0 after 8 overs, bowling change for Aus A - Coulter-Nile replaces Starc.
11:35am
tomb
A lot of us just wanted middlesex to wrap the inngs up and knock off the 40 or so runs so we could go home (or to the pub). How wrong we were in the end. Was buzzing, popped over to Ropery lane to watch some of the cricket there as well. Cook said he thinks Stoneman has a great future.
marchy22
I wonder if Durham see stoneman as a future captain of the first team
After 6 overs
Six overs gone, Durham 21-0, Singh 10* and Stoneman 9*
11:25am
Update
Durham 11-0 after 4 overs, Stoneman 5* and Singh 4*. Current Aus A attack is McDermott and Starc
11:17am
chrissafc
amazing turn around in the space of about 7 overs
chrissafc
we were something like 35/7 effectively during the rain
chrissafc
we were sat in the members lounge during the rain and the general feeling was "sooner the better we're put out of our misery". it was tough to watch us struggling. thorp and borthwick then went crazy and got us a decent lead for that wicket. middlesex fans quickly shut up at 0/2
Four!
Rammy Singh off the mark with a boundary! Durham 6-0 after 1.4 overs.
11:07am
tomb
What a contrast to the feeling the previous day just before the rain came
Here we go!

marchy22
Proves four day cricket is.still the best
chrissafc
tell you what the atmosphere/support/tension etc at the ground on sunday was great. county cricket at it's very best
marchy22
It was Chris
chrissafc
was that against CLS?
tomb
Thanks for that, shame, was hoping to see Jennings make a claim for a first team place, I think Geoff Cook said that might be the case with him having played first class cricket. What is Coughlins role, bowler?
marchy22
Brilliant result for.Blaydon on Saturday title.is there for the taking
Ridgeley
morning campers!
chrissafc
gutted i cant make any of the 3 days, heres hoping for some good scores
chrissafc
didnt expect this to be on today
marchy22
Is that our batting line up too?
Jennings and Borthwick
Keaton Jennings is absent after a delay to his registration. An interpretation of his status, as he played first class cricket in South Africa last winter, means an interview process is required. Scott Borthwick is rested due to a knee problem.
10:40am
