Agreed tvbc. Personally I would have swung the bat for 5 overs or so. Maybe get another 30 or do. Would keep them guessing as well although the declaration is inevitable and would use up overs. The flip side is that declaring now sends the message that we think we already have enough!!

If they're still batting after 85 overs they'll be near the target. Collingwood is not an adventurous captain. He is sensible. 80 overs to get them out. 16 overs for each of the main bowlers.

If we declare now they will need 3.55 per over. If we bat for say 10 more overs and score say 40 more runs, they would need 4.54 per over. Big difference there.

So would I .I think another 20/30 runs to set a chase in about 88 overs be reasonable bearing in mind Notts still have the batsmen who can score quickly.A current ask of 3.5 an over is only just above the rate of the previos innings. a rate nearer 4 an over is gettable but challenging and Notts need the win as much as Durham. Cloud around today so Bunny may well be the key but the other bowlers need to contribute
