Like i say Dales lass, possibly cos we've lost so many days. Lost 2 against Somerset, 2 against Warwickshire, two ish against Lancs and our three wins have come in 2 and a bit days. Saying that the season is only 5 months long and a chunk of that is for 20 20, county season only 4 months really.
That's it!
That's it everyone. Match drawn - 10 points for us. Our last game starts on 11 Sept v Sussex at Emirates Durham - join us then!
4:36pm
mac6
Will you be bringing the dog to last game
IAN
Interested in your tickets,salmon.
keenasmustard
If you can call it a season with all the rain we've had.
daleslass
This season has gone over so quick. I can't believe there's only one game left
salmon
Well done lads, last game for me cant make Sussex game, booked for a weeks fishing. Off to E- bay maybe someone there likes 20/20
tomb
Hard to believe just 1 left, we've lost a lot of days cricket and not had a long four day match at home, in fact we've managed about two days worth for most games or two and a half. Can't think of a proper 4 dayer all season at home, Notts was the closest first up.
bryn
anyone going to sussex game in fancy dress?
Latest
No official news yet, but it's not looking great - still raining...
4:28pm
chrissafc
3 days of cricket left for me, cant get time off for the last day of the season, probably last 3 days anyway
bryn
whenever im there i always end up with solar garden lights whether i need em or not! yerl be able to see my back garden from mars soon
brandonia
I'm a bit upset there's only one game left like, winter is nearly upon us. It's all rather depressing.
chrissafc
all the best everyone. good result for durham this. well done durham
mickeyboy
That'll do me. Well done boys and thanks to all for keeping me entertained over that last couple of days. I shall return...
brandonia
Is the Draw official now?!
Latest
The rain is falling steadily again...covers are on.
4:24pm
tomb
Sure we've shook hands before 4 in the past. At Wilkos I am going for some cups, plates, frames but will probably come back with plants and a birdcage instead.
brandonia
Plenty time left for Bunny and co to take 10 wickets here!
chrissafc
we've extended our lead over lancs by 3 points we've extended our lead over surrey by 1 point (nailed on draw for them) we've extended our lead over worcs by at least 1 point providing they end up drawing later on today.
bryn
What yer after at wilkos tomb?
tomb
Dont see the point of coming back out now
keenasmustard
If Peter Willey was umpiring we'd be half way home by now
Latest
The sheets are coming off and the umpires are going out to take a look.
4:14pm
auldtimer
They can't call a draw till 5.00.
chrissafc
job done durham, safe trip home
brandonia
Aye, I've said for 4 days I'd settle for the draw but now we're in tho position I'm wanting to see our bowlers get stuck into them! Great performance though, the 10-7 points will just help nicely.
tomb
Have they called it a draw yet?
IAN
Well done lads excellent draw
BrianT
I would have liked to have seen 10 overs of Onions and Rushworth followed by Stokes and Borthwick mopping up the tail. (Assumed Thorpe has poorly back).
brandonia
Anderson smashes Steyn's off-stump. Landed about 10 yards back!
brandonia
You're all right about the rain crack mind. Bloke on the BBC yesterday ("The View From The Commentary Box") was moaning about the rain as if Lancashire were in a great position to win! Atleast our 150odd lead means they can't blame the rain. Whey they might try but truth is they've been second best by far.
BrianT
Bryn. Don't know. Made it up.
tomb
Better than the Emirates ICG at the Riverside sponsered by Prawn ***tail Quavers in association with Stawberry Chewitts.
bryn
Tho the MEG arena has a canny ring to it!
tomb
Sponsers of the MEN arena
Update
The main cover is on as the rain here gets heavier here.
3:53pm
bryn
Is it not manchester evening news brian?
tomb
Didnt the same happen to Notts a few years ago, won the title, then went down next year?
tomb
Brian, that headline has been used for the last 125 seasons.
tomb
That sounded creepy, I meant watched their game as never seen live.
BrianT
I can see the heaqdlines in tomorrow's Manchester Evening Gazette. "Rain denies Lancs chance of win".
Update
Spots of rain at the minute but not enough to bring the covers on.
3:47pm
tomb
I dont like 20-20 but probably would have watched the women
salmon
Seems to be great interest in my tickets can not even give them away!
keenasmustard
Looks like you've put him right Yvette. He's just tweeted to correct it. :)

Sorry Yvette
tomb
First time for everything
Response to keenasmustard
I'm right!

tomb
Plunketts got a good beard. Very different to Amlas but impressive none the less.
salmon
Well played all. Getting back to beards, so that is Amla,s secret weapon and i thopught it was religious
tomb
I reckon a hand shake will follow quite soon.
keenasmustard
32 according to Yvette but guy at Lancs has tweeted 33 left. Not that it matters.
tomb
Sorry, 32.
tomb
How many overs are left then?
tomb
Thing with the long format is people rember individual performances from the game for years after, I can recall parts of most of our 4 day stuff, but the one day games, not much at all.
mickeyboy
All other 1st div games look like draws. Kent should win as need 4 more wickets
darlostu
Well done lads a great effort, we had to make sure we didn't lose the game and now we might just win it
keenasmustard
We'll get 10 points out of this assuming our over rate is ok.
marchy22
brilliant lads
raydetmold
excellent effort , well played
tomb
Very well played lads.
Durham post 416
Durham post a first innings total of 416. Rushworth is the last man out, Onions 14*. When we return there are 32 overs left.
3:36pm
tomb
Oops, I mean its a great day out for all
salmon
Must admit i was looking forward to seeing the England women
mickeyboy
I agree tomb. Longer game always been for me
BrianT
Job done Durham. 150 should be enough.
tomb
and finals
salmon
He will probably swear to that, Peter Reid i mean.
tomb
One day stuff is pointless, once the games over, no one remembers a thing about it, that includes Durham games usually as well for me. Only games that stick in the memory are the quarters, semis
BrianT
Hway Tomb, there's a bloke on here trying to offload two tickets.
marchy22
good work if you can get it
keenasmustard
Peter Reid is probably getting paid to be there.
tomb
Does anybody care in the least about this one day series?Except for Peter Reid apparently
marchy22

tomb
1's each that game. You're going to Swansea eh, i've got bigger plans, I have a haircut scheduled for 11am tomorrow and then a trip to Wilkinsons in the milburngate.
chrissafc
just checked, we got 384 vs somerset.
BrianT
Don't bring facts into it Chris.
chrissafc
we got 400 vs somerset didnt we?
marchy22
was worth the trip for him then ;)
keenasmustard
First time we've scored 400. Who would have thought we'd have done it here?
Wicket...
Thorp is dismissed for 25, by Croft. Durham 408-9 as Chris Rushworth joins Onions (13*).
3:27pm
chrissafc
my brother flew over from melbourne for newcastle vs sunderland last season. sadly he's a newcastle fan though
chrissafc
i'm up at 6am for the match in the morning.
tomb
All that to watch Sunderland. The mind boggles.
marchy22
no if we declare during tea we wont lose 2 overs
BrianT
Is there a time before tea when we can declare and not lose 2 overs? Tomb. Middlesbrough, a small club in Teesside. Impressed with the spelling?
chrissafc
middlesex 18/0
mickeyboy
Only gave my season ticket up at SOL 5 years ago. Got to a point when getting up at 6:30am on day off to get 8:00 train got a bit tedious. Normally get to two 4 days games a year and go to all Southern games, hence my hope for Kent coming up
tomb
Am I free? Martins a good bloke, often has a pint in the bar after the days play. Will have to make other plans for next season.
tomb
Who does your current vicar support?
Latest
Durham 402-8, Thorp 25* and Onions 7*.
3:22pm
BrianT
Only joking. Our vicar moved to Maidstone this year and now watches Kent and Maidstone Utd instead of Sunderland and Durham. He loves it.
chrissafc
400 up
mickeyboy
So are the people of the South
BrianT
Its a great way to follow Durham cricket Mickey. Sorry to hear you live in the south.
mickeyboy
Yeah - He said that, even though the BBC review said cricket should be maintained
auldtimer
Would that be young Mr Grace tomb, are u free?
tomb
No martin commentarys next year mickey. Shame.
mickeyboy
I am. Normally listen to Martin on Radio Newcastle or whichever county but no commentary on this one. Have enjoyed it. Thanks. Lived South for over 20 years and Country member
tomb
Talikng of Grace, he would a great signing for us next season and the fake beards would sell well in the club shop.
chrissafc
yeah it changed to 110 a while back
tomb
Trouble is pierre, one day would be given out and the next not, so the players dont know whats going on.
BrianT
mickeyboy: have to think about that one. You're new here aren't you?
tomb
Aah, caught me out there.
aapierre
if there is a legitimate law allowing it and he followed protocol then why not ? it may not be the best method but then neither is stealing yards down the wicket it falls into the category of appealing for a wicket when a batter picks the ball up without asking first. I dont wish to be all troublesome about it but some of the ethos is a little bit W G Grace [who was a cheat himself]
mickeyboy
Changed to 110 overs a couple of years ago didnt it?
marchy22
no we are passed 110 overs now
tomb
We are arent we?
chrissafc
why is martyn emmerson tweeting we are heading for max batting points for?
tomb
I sure hope so Marchy
marchy22
has thorp signed on for next year?
mickeyboy
Brian - Is there anybody you do like?
chrissafc
love it when callum thorp just goes mad with the bat
BrianT
I just wrote and then thought about, and then deleted a long post about cheating. Don't want Notts to win it either.
Six!
A second six for Callum! Durham 394-8.
3:12pm
marchy22
i got it done to me a couple of weeks ago and the umpire just laughed at the bowler and said not out
salmon
did not like what Kartik did, we have allbeen in a similar situation but it is one of those unwritten rules you dont do it
raydetmold
fantastic slower ball from Dernbach , nobody better at it
mickeyboy
I think it should have been called dead ball as he ran him out after delivery stride and the law says must be before
chrissafc
disgusting what he did. awful
marchy22
some people are saying he was warned some are say he wasnt
Ed Syers
I think Kartik had every right to do what he did, the batsmen was already warned.
BrianT
Well done Colly. Another 30 before tea would set it up nicely.
marchy22
oh right got you brian
tomb
Dont particularly like Dernbach meself, bit of a poser.
marchy22
well batted colly
tomb
400 then stick em in.
mickeyboy
Well batted lad. We carrying on?
BrianT
For his sense of fair play and general all round niceness.
Wicket...
Collingwood is bowled by Croft for 114. Durham 383-8 as Graham Onions joins Thorp (14*).
3:02pm
auldtimer
Colly out.
marchy22
why kartik brian
BrianT
And for Kartik, Marchy
salmon
Agree, bat till tea and then have a go at them, brill performance. I have 2 tickets and a red car pass for next saturdays 20/20 , can not get.No returns accepted. any offers?
tomb
Not fair for them to change for the last 2 crucial games of the season. Oh right, didnt know they were in that.
marchy22
keep them out in the field all afternoon, get them knackered for their semi tomorrow dont want them winning the cb40, i would like to see surrey win that one for tom maynard
tomb
Whats happening tomorrow?
BrianT
I just hate London teams, and those who think they are London.
mickeyboy
Right at this moment...I don't care. Brilliant performance boys
chrissafc
i see your point brian, just annoy them a bit. i cant imagine the venue changed amused our players/club
BrianT
Keep them out there and harm their chances tomorrow. Got to get a bit of pleasure out of the game.
auldtimer
Bat till tea and call it a draw, no point in getting our bowlers to slog away on a flat dead track.
keenasmustard
I'm guessing the reason we're batting on is because the pitch is as flat as a supermodel's chest and we wont have enough time to bowl them out.
Latest
Six from Callum! Durham 370-7, 43 overs remain.
2:52pm
marchy22
it has been a season of transition, we have got rid of the dead wood and look a better and more youthful team
chrissafc
middlesex need 204 to beat worcester
marchy22
how many overs left yvette
mickeyboy
I remember after the 40 overs at Surrey saying how disappointing Colly had been...happily eating my words now
aapierre
i think its fair to say that a lot of form is picking up now at the start of the season and until this winning run there wasnt a batter who was doing well. they seemed to have improved as a unit is it any coincidence that some players have been shipped out ?
marchy22
middlesex need 203 to win
auldtimer
Highly unlikely we will be caught, it would take an extraordinary set of results for that to happen now.
mickeyboy
Spoke with Colly at Lords earlier this season. I'd heard Sky were lining him up but he said no. He's committed to Durham and then wants to get into coaching
tomb
are safe....
tomb
Ok, so if we get docked points for slow over rate and a bad wicket, realistically we wew safe. The captaincy seems to have spurred Colly on, his form was poor before and excellent since.
chrissafc
well we can't get beat now, we might as well try for the win.
BrianT
Mathematically, two teams could catch us. I'm more bothered about catching teams ahead of us.
chrissafc
must admit brian i questioned his committment to durham when he first re-joined after the england faff on. he's been excellent since his return on and off the field.
mickeyboy
Played Colly. auldtimer...fair play, not mathermatically safe
tomb
We are safe, lets be realistic. Two seasons in a row we've been made to play here, not good for the travelling fans either. Well done Colly,he's been in top form lately.
chrissafc
thorp
BrianT
Well done Colly. Now all you who said he was finished look back through the archives and don't be so hasty in future.
chrissafc
unleash throp for 10 minutes then declare
marchy22
now slog for a few overs
marchy22
well batted colly
Collingwood 100
Colly gets his hundred! (off 178 balls, including nine boundaries) Durham 357-7.
2:43pm
chrissafc
100 for colly
chrissafc
oopps sorry brian, having a bad day today
auldtimer
Mickeyboy, we could still finish second off bottom with that result.
BrianT
Check your maths Chris.
chrissafc
yeah i believe we are safe, i am just happy we are preventing lancs. spiteful what they did with the ground move
mickeyboy
I think we are safe because Surrey have to play Lancs
mickeyboy
meant Surrey batting ON
auldtimer
Am I right in thinking that if all games finish the way they are heading today Durham are only 4 points from being certain to avoid relegation?
mickeyboy
Surrey batting and and Worcs hanging on. 2 draws there
marchy22
colly 99
chrissafc
a draw wud mean we've extended our points tally over lancs by 2. can't grumble with that
chrissafc
110 overs complete. lancs end with only 2 bowling points. well done durham
chrissafc
superb again from borthwick, he's been excellent lately
chrissafc
that didnt make sense 3 balls to get 3 wickets
mickeyboy
Played Scotty lad. 5 over thrash and declare
Wicket...
Durham 353-7 after Borthwick is caught by Chapple off Keedy for 60. Callum Thorp joins Colly (98*)
2:35pm
marchy22
colly get ur century then free the arms and get a lead of 140 and have a go at them
chrissafc
lancs have 2 balls to get 3 wickets for max bowling points
aapierre
I prefer the chatter on here without the football stuff in it. Thats just my choice though
marchy22
brilliant lads
raydetmold
superb effort , different team without Smith & Muchall , should of been dropped ages ago
bryn
collar popped, time to party like its £19.99!
chrissafc
At New Road Worcs (323 & 161/8) lead Middx 306) by 178 runs with 2 wkts remaining. Kervezee 56*
tomb
Er no, I'll have a pint please, not Fosters, summit decent
chrissafc
350 up get in lads
Durham 350
That is 350 and a fourth batting point!
2:27pm
chrissafc
closing in on another batting point here
chrissafc
borthwick in excellent form. all round great effort in recent weeks
marchy22
well batted borthwick
brandonia
Aye tomb, I'll get the first round in if you get the second one in. What'll it be? Red Stripe, Sailor Jerry or a Mint Baileys??
chrissafc

Borthwick 50
Fifty for Scott Borthwick! (108 balls and six fours)
2:19pm
tomb
Calm down mickey!
mickeyboy
The way it's going Lancs v Surrey last game will be winner takes all...and it's at Liverpool. If you're ever in the Kingsfield or Wards in Harrow...
chrissafc
to get to 350 would be brilliant mind
tomb
Doesnt the chat on Sky and TMS wader away from the cricket as well during quiet periods, don't see anything wrong with that.
Update
Durham 333-6 after 104 overs, 53 remain, Colly 91* and Borrthwick 47*
2:15pm
tomb
Think some footy chat is inevitable as lots of cricket fans are also footy fans and the vast majority are Mags or Mackems.
marchy22
we have brilliant crack on here brandonia
tomb
Does that mean you're buying the round Brandonia?
chrissafc
& those who don't like lancs will be in the opinion that its not going well for lancs
chrissafc
either way all going well for durham at the moment, thats the main issue.
brandonia
Amla's stumps arl owa. Also, I must add that I love the crack we have on here. I love how chat meanders from one subject to another during quiet spells in the game. I know Yvette isn't a fan of the football chat but everything we talk about adds to the atmosphere. We must have men and women, boys and girls and people of all ages and from many backgrounds - yet I still think I'd enjoy a pint with everyone on here!
mickeyboy
spoke too soon. Worcs 8 down with 160 lead
chrissafc
surrey game seems to be a draw
chrissafc
worcester may just squeeze a draw
salmon
Idont think Colly will do any thing silly, i believe he has been great since coming back as captain. The game against Notts was very cleverly won in my opinion.
CollingwoodFTM
Should read 15 overs.
CollingwoodFTM
Bat for 5 more overs. Add another 60 odd, then give us 40 overs to have a pop at them?
mickeyboy
Worcs seem to be making a fight of it now
chrissafc
thanks.
Update
Durham 318-6 with 57 overs left today, Colly 83* (he was dropped on 75) and Borthwick 42*
2:04pm
chrissafc
how many overs are left in the day?
chrissafc
just as well cook didnt listen to the person on the sunderland message board who repeatedly keeps saying borthwick isnt worthy of a place
Mark
Yeah, I wasn't suggesting we should try and manufacture a result here. No need at all for us to take any risks. Bat on and on.
BrianT
That's fine for Surrey, they're not playing a six pointer. They're risking three points to win sixteen. We would be risking three points to give us or Lancs sixteen. It's not going to happen.
Durham 300!
Durham 300! Colly 75* and Borthwick 38*
1:57pm
mickeyboy
Keep it going boys
marchy22
100 partnership
Ed Syers
Why does Prior not play ODIs? Never made sense to me.
Mark
Surrey & Somerset must have agreed to set up a run chase-the declaration bowlers are on.
marchy22
3rd batting bonus point
BrianT
14 overs to get to 350 for 4 bonus points. Lancs have CB40 SF tomorrow. Poor lambs. Keep then in the field.
Bowling update
Back to the cricket - Simon Kerrigan returns. Durham 295-6.
1:49pm
tomb
Lots of good local ales (dont meant Tetleys)more than you get up here. Grove is a fantastic real ale pub. Stayed near the Templar, full of characters.
marchy22
prior should be our one day wicket keeper, he is a class player
BrianT
Bedwetter standing back to Bopara. Must be time for a new one day wickey.
tomb
Lancashire hot pot takes a lot of eating
mickeyboy
and they have Timmy Taylor Landlord...lovly jubly
marchy22

We're back!
We're back after the lunch break - Durham 293-6, Colly 64* and Borthwick 35*

Its come on a lot, looks more like a European city than a northern 'mill' town. Probably my fav city in the UK
mickeyboy
Got mates with kids (male and female) at Leeds Uni and they all love it. Not when I was a kid being chased under the underpass
tomb
Leeds is a great city, went again for the 20 20, plenty of good pubs. Lots of beautiful women although not many of these seemed to be on their way to the cricket.
marchy22
davies strikes again, 3.3-3-1-2
BrianT
Don't know about bitter old blokes Tomb. Except on cricket chat lines. Just had a holiday in Yorks and it was class. Lots of beautiful young women, however the wedding ring and 40 year age gap rather stunted my progress.
tomb
Thought the hotel plan was dead in the water from what David harkers been saying? I reckon we will miss out once Old Trafford is up to standard. They must have been promised games to spend all that money on doing it up.
tomb
Must be a lot of folk coming up from other parts of the country for the match then. Barmy Army usually complain when they have to leave the sarf......
BrianT
Hotels will be built if we get regular tests. It says so in development plan.
mickeyboy
My mother & sister live in Meadowfield and they have spare rooms and could fit us all in
tomb
No idea if they have any spare like.... I live in Pity Me area, maybe should hire out a room next year
tomb
I always thought there would be more women in paradise? Still, if bitter old Yorkshire blokes are more up your street....
mickeyboy
Gawd. I used to play quoits out the back of there years ago. I'll try em. cheers
tomb
Have you tried the Lambton Hounds in pity me?
mickeyboy
Live in Middx and have mates who are members at Middx, Surrey, Kent & Sussex. Bringing them to Ashes next year, although cannot get hotels so might have to all stop at me mothers
BrianT
It's a state of mind.
tomb
Never thought of Headingley as a paradise before now.....
BrianT
An hour and a bit down the road, drop wife at shops and on to cricket. My idea of paradise
tomb
I'd still rather be the only Northern team in Div 1 next year, bragging rights and all that
mickeyboy
Living down here...I'm just being selfish
tomb
Had a great time in Leeds last season, three days there and we won on day 4
BrianT
Would prefer Yorks to come up. Sick of Southern trips. Rather have 4 days in Yorks than Kent. No disrespect to Kent but it's full of lorries.
marchy22
surely cook has to say richardson sign a new contract and you will start in the team next season batting three
tomb
New restaurant has opened up in Durham near Varsity, celebrating the origin of Mustard in Durham. All staff have had specialist training to advise customers on the right mustard to have with their dish.
chrissafc
id like to think we could keep richardson. i think he's a very good player, but if durham persist with the likes of muchall then richardson will be off.
mickeyboy
Tomb - What happened to German Mustard?
mickeyboy
Hope it's Kent. Have had many a good day at Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells Maidstone over the years and have a mate lives in the flats behind Beckenham
tomb
All mustard is made in relatively the same way. The seed must be crushed, its hull and bran sifted out or not depending on type of mustard being made. It then may or may not go through further grinding and crushing. A liquid such as water, wine, vinegar, beer, or a combination of several of these liquids is added, along with seasonings and perhaps other flavorings. The mustard is mixed, in some cases simmered, and then cooled.
marchy22
agreed, good effort from borthwick. do you think we will persuade richardson to sign a new contract chris
chrissafc
brilliant from borthwick mind
tomb
Is the guy with the roses hat about. Be his face is a picture at the moment
marchy22
yeah me too, would be nice for davies to have a return to the emirates
tomb
Would prefer Kent from those three
marchy22
and hampshire maybe
tomb
Who's poised to come up with Derby, is it Yorkshire or Kent looking most likely?
tomb
Sour grapes maybe but thought Lancs were the poorest team I've seen take the title last year. Hope Old Traford gets sorted soon as possible. W should have beaten them at home, we had the game won and they would have been doomed already.
Lunch
Lunch - Durham 291-6, Borthwick 34* and Collingwood 63*.
1:00pm
mickeyboy
Both spinners back on. Bat on lads
auldtimer
I can't see any reason for us to declare at all and give them batting practice, let them sweat it out in the field till tea and call it a draw.
marchy22
leicester 2 down, kent still in the hunt for promotion
marchy22
couldnt agree more tomb
tomb
Will take a draw here and against Sussex all day long. My autumn and winter will be much happier with us still in Div 1.
marchy22
bat as long as possible, if we can get close to 100 lead then declare and let them have a nervy 40 overs try to bat and save the draw
tomb
Dont give the Lancys a sniff.
marchy22
davies st5rikes for kent
auldtimer
No point in declaring until we get as many batting points as possible, every extra point we get now puts us further away from trouble.
tomb
Some big ish names in there, had 12 men last night with the referee on side. If we get to a 20 20 FINAL we can have a trip with Durham in the Champions league.
raydetmold
happy with that for the Toon , no long distances to travel
raydetmold
Bordeaux (France) Brugge (Belgium) Maritimo (Portugal
keenasmustard
Was our run rate ok when we bowled? Just hoping we don't lose any points for that.
mickeyboy
We cannot declare with less that 100 lead (or should not)
tomb
I hope we dont give it away chasing a win we dont need.
chrissafc
we seem to be scoring runs fast, suggests to me as if colly fancies a go after a lunch
tomb
Colly has really come good in the second half of the season after a slow start. Just bat on, don't want a slog fest and don't want to see Lancs stay up on the back of some bizarre run chase. Van Der Vaart to Hamburg, and Berbatov to Spurs?
marchy22
the new ball and seamers being on will have helped that stat i think chris

how many times will england drop amla on his way to another hundered
mickeyboy
Looks like Kent have set Leicester 282 at about 4 an over
marchy22
the same as onions but has played two games more than onions
marchy22
ive just looked and roland-jones from middlesex has 65 championship wickets
marchy22
thanks yvette
brandonia
Whilst the winner in me would love to see a bit of action this afternoon, one thing we must do is get to 300, it would be careless of us to give up the possibility of bonus points. If we get to 300 it would also mean a draw would see us gain extra points on Lancs. Worcester also got 300 in their first innings as did Surrey so it just keeps them all at arms length.
Latest
We've passed 262 so now to establish our lead! durham 265-6, Colly 52* and Borthwick 23*.
12:25pm
marchy22
i deont think we will, no point in giving them a little chance, bat on and they will be nailed on for relegation
chrissafc
IF we get to 300 by lunch i've a feeling we may declare. just a feeling. i'd just bat on though
Response to marchy22
Fingers crossed! I've not heard otherwise.
12:24pm
marchy22
is thorp able to bat yvette?
marchy22
worcs look like losing against middlesex
marchy22
brilliant from colly, well batted lad
chrissafc
we seem to be upping our run rate
Colly 50
That's fifty for Colly! Durham 261-6.
12:20pm
chrissafc
50 up for colly, superb
Ed Syers
They'll be desperate for a win, which could work massively to our advantage. No point going for a draw just for the extra 3 points.
mickeyboy
I agree. If we can get a lead of 100ish they will be totally demoralised and there for the kill
BrianT
Why would we not try and bst on and then try and bowl out a demoralised, tired, relegated team?
davidhchess
Well, here at Liverpool, looking at our batting I would avoid any risk of losing!
Update
After 84 overs, the new ball has been taken. Durham 257-6.
12:18pm
Tynevalleyblackcat
I agree Ed, and even if we don't an early declaration by them could be on the cards.
Tristan
i would definitly have a go at them
Durham 250
Durham secure their second batting point! Colly 45* and Borthwick 19*
12:14pm
Ed Syers
I say get to 260 and declare. With Onions bowling there's every chance we can skittle them before tea.

Scotty and Colly run four! Durham 245-6...

chrissafc
worth remember lancs play surrey last game of the season which will cancel out both teams been able to get max points
CollingwoodFTM
Just get the batting points lads. Thanks for the responses on the points lads, I looked at it and could not work it out clearly. Glad it is not just me.
marchy22
just bat on lads, dont give them a sniff
Mark
I would bat on for as long as possible. No need for any risks at this stage so we should try and bat them completely out of the game. If the last 4 wickets go down quickly I'd also go on the defensive when Lancs bat again-make sure they can't score quickly.
Update
No new ball yet - Durham 238-6 after 80 overs, Colly 35* and Borthwick 13*
12:06pm
marchy22
its available, not sure they will take it
mickeyboy
New ball?
Tynevalleyblackcat
I don't see a big risk Chris and sometimes you need to take a risk to get a reward. There is nothing to say Lancs would put us back in anyway.
BrianT
Said yesterday, never give a sucker an even break. Bat on amd on if we can.
mickeyboy
I'm with you Chris...bat, bat and bat on
chrissafc
i'm in the camp of just keep batting, we dont need to be taking any risks.
Tynevalleyblackcat
I don't see any real point in pressing on past 250. If (and its a big if), Lancs are thinking about setting us a smallish target, then we might as well assist them to do it as its in our favour. The longer we bat, the less likely they will take that option.
Tristan
guess it's only me that gets their posts about football deleted then!
chrissafc
not sure. 34 behind is decent, just got to keep going, first target to get to 250
raydetmold
only 34 behind now
raydetmold
what times the europa league group draw on ?
chrissafc
:)
raydetmold
Chris , are sunderland actually playing in europe ? haha
mickeyboy
I'm on 9:30 train from London
chrissafc
i'm off to swansea 6am in the morning
Tynevalleyblackcat
Morning people. Might be my only post today as I am setting off for Swansea via Bristol soon. The way I see it Lancs really need to win and the only way they can do that is try and get a lead (even a small one) and then give themselves 30 overs or so to try and skittle us. If they take that approach we can win. Otherwise, the game will meander to a draw that kills them.
mickeyboy
Ray & Brian - Agreed
raydetmold
if there is a result in this game , then its fixed , end of conversation
Latest
Durham 214-6 after 13 overs, Colly 20* and Borthwick 4*.
11:46am
mickeyboy
Yep - They have to win. If we can bat til lunch we will have a small lead. That will leave 60 overs left for 2 innings
BrianT
Neither team emerged with any credit. Childish interviews on TV. So what have we learned that we didn't know already? Batsmen shouldn't encroach. Kartik and Batty bad sports. Trescothick is a whinger. Nowt new really.
brandonia
Re - Mickey, could be interesting if Keedy's word is the truth, will be hard for them I'm sure to set us anything defendable in 30 overs though. Mind, only 3 points for a draw and that doesn't help them so going for the win could be the only real chance they have of staying up.
mickeyboy
On the Taunton run out. I was always told that as a bowler you ask the umpire to warn the batsman. Kartik did not do this he just told Barrow to stay in his crease
raydetmold
Good morning everybody
marchy22
runs are really drying up, must be turning alot
mickeyboy
On Cricinfo, Keedy says they will bowl us out, have a thrash and try to get us out in final 30 overs. Could be interesting?
Tristan
well done gidman! he's nee ottis gibson mind
Tristan
hardly the only one mind brandy ;)
safcluke
Will Gidman will take all 10 wickets.
brandonia
I'm glad you did the Maths Haslam, I started looking into it and then realised my description of the situation just went round in circles! Mustard has really struggled this season in the CC. Shame.
marchy22
gloucs have set yorks 313 in about 84 overs to win
safcluke
Good of Leicester that. Suppose they have nowt to play for.
Tristan
poor old mustard - back to back centuries saw him moved up the order in the cc team and since then he's failed to reach double figures iirc
Tristan
hope kent can pull off a win - would be another chance for me to see dccc each year!
Wicket...
Durham 205-6 as Mustard is caught by Prince off Kerrigan for 5. Scott Borthwick joins Colly (16*).
11:26am
marchy22
leicester setting a result up with kent, thats generous off them seeing as leicester have no chance of promotion
Haslam
Hard to say Collingwood as, in theory Worcester and Surrey could still get - i think - as many as 157 points (if they get every one on offer). A draw and say 3 batting points would put us on 137. Realistically that's enough to be safe though.
Tristan
well done lads, shame richardson couldn't reach a fifty but a very promising debut from him at 3
chrissafc
well in durham
Durham 200
Two hundred up for Durham, Colly 13* and Mustard 5*
11:24am
marchy22
1st batting point in the bag
Tristan
good luck with that on transfer deadline day! seems a great shame but rules is rules.
brandonia
Afore long the word football will be ******'d out like night-watchman is!!!!! Then the Gestapo will be at your door!
Response to Tristan
Preferably no football talk - lots of users use this page to catch up on the cricket action of the day so we'd like to keep it as relevant as possible!
11:21am
Haslam
ps. Very bright and sunny, with some clouds around. Not that warm though!
CollingwoodFTM
How many points are needed to guarantee survival?
Haslam
Pretty sure we'll just be looking at getting as many batting points as possible. If we're in after lunch on 300+ then only chance of result is a Lancs. collapse and we have a draw and some points in the bag at least. Nothing silly this morning, gentle runs please.
Tristan
footy chat banned on here or summut?
brandonia
Nah, I've revised my earlier desire, I suppos i'd settle for that now though.
BrianT
Well done Yvette. Quick crackdown on non-cricket posts stops tribalism before it starts.
Tristan
400-6 brandy ;)
Wicket...
Michael Richardson is caught by Smith off Kerrigan for 41. Durham 191-5
11:08am
brandonia
Morning all. Quest for batting points this morning. Hopefully we'll declare at lunch on 400-4 and bowl them out this aft!
Tristan
did he add one overnight or was the bbc report from yesterday wrong?
Tristan
richardson 39* surely?
We're on!
Play begins on day four - Durham 188-4 with Richardson 40* and Collingwood 5*
11:01am
chrissafc
just think its poor to see.
Tristan
but then i backed the ian bell dismissal anarl
Tristan
@chrissafc - im missed the actual replay of it but tbh he had been warned already so for me it's fair enough
chrissafc
just seen the run out at taunton yesterday. shocking
chrissafc
good morning, all set for us to get some batting points i hope.
davidhchess
Just on our way to the game now.
