Close of play

Durham 131-6 at the close of play. Back tomorrow, remember 10.30am start!

6:07pm

brandonia

Nice placement Colonel!!

brandonia

We couldn't have done anything about the weather or the pitches but we could have used more application - after all, we were losing games despite our fantastic bowling efforts. Conitions were tough for batting but the opposition were playing in the same conditions and they coped.

Mark

Don't think there was much we could have done about the poor start-conditions were awful for batting and we had no luck at all.

brandonia

I must say I think we've missed a trick this season. If Sussex are good enough to come 2nd in the Championship then it highlights how much of an underacheiving season we've had. We're miles better than them, man for man.

Latest

Durham 122-6 with Borthwick yet to score and Mustard 3*.

5:59pm

Wicket...

Stoneman is caught off Panesar for 52. Durham 119-6 with 6 overs remaining. Scott Borthwick joins Mustard.

5:49pm

brandonia

Rocky gone.

Tynevalleyblackcat

Need to dig in. Still too far behind for my liking.

Wicket...

Collingwood is caught off Panesar for 19. Durham 118-5, 8 overs remain.

5:41pm

BrianT

Silly dismissal for an experienced player.

brandonia

Colly out. Hoyed it away.

brandonia

Partnership is 51 too. We missed that one!

brandonia

Magoffin back on - he's the danger man.

brandonia

How many overs left tonight Yvette?

Tynevalleyblackcat

Deficit below 100 now.

brandonia

85 balls and 10 fours. Very fluent.

Stoneman 50

Mark Stoneman reaches fifty! Durham 116-4 with 10 overs to go this evening.

5:31pm

brandonia

Well batted. 51 not out.

brandonia

Shot Rocky, keep plugging away lad. That hammy will feel better when you're 100 not out at Lunch themorra!!

CollingwoodFTM

Sorry to hear you are leaving Yvette. Thanks for all your hard work over the last few Summers.

Update

Hundred up for Durham, Stoneman 43* and Collingwood 16*

5:26pm

brandonia

Is there going to be a LMC next season?? I reckon you should still do it on the side Yvette, or if they want I'll do it. I don't want to do all that PR stuff like, just the updates will be fine!

brandonia

Shot Rocky! Hammers adkin through backward cover for four.

daleslass

Will be back down tomorrow. Hope its not as cold as it is today.

brandonia

Gutted about Marty like, are all counties being cut or just us?!

Tynevalleyblackcat

You wait ages for a boundary and then two come along at once.

BrianT

Is there anybody out there? Slow progress here. Waiting for an early finish and then three days to make progress.

brandonia

Richo on as a Runner for Rocky.

Tynevalleyblackcat

Needless to say, we could do with a decent stand here.

Wicket...

Durham 65-4 after Benkenstein is bowled by Magoffin for 6. Paul Collingwood joins Stoneman (23*).

4:27pm

Latest

safcluke

good luck to the 2nd xi tomorrow aswell.

safcluke

will the match chat continue to run?

4:12pm

Durham 47-3 after 10.2 overs, Stokes is bowled by Magoffin for 22.

3:45pm

Tynevalleyblackcat

2 down

Wicket...

Jennings is out lbw to Hatchett for 8. Durham 12-1 after 2 overs.

3:34pm

Tynevalleyblackcat

Would be a shame to bat well for the rest of today and be in a good position and then be frustrated by the weather. 39 overs tonight, so I would be looking for around 150 for not many at the close.

We're back!

The Durham innings begins with Mark Stoneman and Keaton Jennings at the crease. There are 39 overs remaining tonight.

3:26pm

daleslass

Checked BBC and Sky and both are different. The BBC said rain am then fine pm although thats what they said for today. Will open the curtains and see tomorrow who is right

bobstersafc

aye lots of showers

Tynevalleyblackcat

Anybody checked the forecast for the next few days?

CollingwoodFTM

I'm off for a cuppa. Well done lads, now build on this by batting well.

Tea

That appears to be tea time...back shortly!

3:10pm

Tynevalleyblackcat

I assume that's an early tea?

3:06pm

Tynevalleyblackcat

Definitely Brian. And the next one :)

3:02pm

BrianT

Tynevalleyblackcat

Lets get them out before tea.

Wicket!

Scott Borthwick gets in on the act! Magoffin is out lbw. Sussex 201-8.

2:51pm

BrianT

Durham doing ok. Anything less than 230 would be great and 250 is what I would expect.

Wicket!

Thorp claims his second wicket! Adkin is caught behind on 9.

2:39pm

BrianT

Oh no they're not!

Latest

Sussex 197-6 after 48 overs, Adkin 8* and Brown 66*

2:35pm

BrianT

A park is a bigger attraction than a cricket match to a 3 year old. Might have to wait till after tea.

Stan Drop

Austins

Stan Drop

Ice cream van is sometimes just outside the ground in the park. Doesn't Ausrins sell ice-cream too?

BrianT

Are there any pretty dresses in the club shop then?

Response to Brian T

There usually is an ice cream van but I can't see that he is here today...that's just not on!

2:07pm

marchy22

Century partnership coming up

BrianT

Trying to convince one of my grandchildren to come to the cricket to fulfil some baby-sitting duties. Is the ice cream van there? If not, it may be the museum for me I'm afraid.

marchy22

Afternoon Brian

BrianT

Good afternoon Marchy. Good partnership this. On the other hand it shows that the wicket has stopped misbehaving which will be good for Durham, sooner rather than later I hope.

Latest

Sussex 151-5, Wernars 39* and Brown 39*.

1:59pm

marchy22

Get onions back on

1:14pm

Lunch

Lunch here - Sussex 104-5. Back shortly!

12:37pm

BrianT

I'm not at the ground yet but run rate and wickets suggest a very attacking field. Over rate -2 at present.

Latest

Sussex 88-5 after 24.4 overs, Rushworth and Onions continue.

12:20pm

Stan Drop

Sorry, Shrubsole's catch was in yesterday's match, not at Riverside. It was still brilliant though!

Wicket!

Sussex 61-4 as Onions strikes again! Machan is caught by Colly got 4.

11:47am

bobstersafc

come on durham

BrianT

When reading the ECB verdict on Durham's salary cap breach I thought we would start next season with a points bonus! A 2.5 points deduction was the minimum penalty. I wonder if there are other clubs in breach that have not acted as professionally as Durham did? I will watch with interest.

Wicket!

Gatting is out lbw to Onions for 14! Sussex 55-3.

11:36am

bobstersafc

well done bunny

parky

1st bowling bonus point

marchy22

haway tighten it up stokes

Stan Drop

I watched quite a lot of the women's T20 from Luxembourg and was hugely impressed by the England team's skill levels. A catch by Shrubsole and a run out by Edwards would not have disgraced Colly on a good day and there was a very sharp stumping by Taylor. Yvette, why does Durham Women's cricket not have a page on the website, although i see that there is a Women's Cricket Development Officer. England would be even better with a few Durham lasses to call upon! haway the lasses!

Update

Sussex 42-2 after 14 overs, Stokes has joined the attack and is into his fourth over.

11:29am

Stan Drop

G'day all.It would be great to finish with a win and perhaps boost us a place up the final list.

CollingwoodFTM

Good luck today lads, let's finish off the season in style.

2XI update

2XI: Due to bad weather there will be no play today or tomorrow at Northern CC. The SET Final will now be played on Thursday.

11:24am

marchy22

lets have another wicket please

Latest

Sussex 29-2, Gatting 3* and Wells 10*.

11:08am

Mackem_Dave

When the awards are handed out for the season, Chris Rushworth must be up there under the 'most improved' category. 54 wickets in all cometitions this season.

marchy22

brilliant again from rushworth

Wicket!

Rushworth strikes again! Traps Yardy lbw for 7!

10:52am

parky

yes!

exiledgeordie

Parky - I hope you're right. Martin didn't sound too sure last time I heard him. Living near Brum I really value his commentary.

Mackem_Dave

The words 'T20 Mickey Mouse' cricket never came from me. T20 is more important that championship cricket for the financial well being of county cricket even if the 'old farts' criticise it.

parky

Martin E seemed to think we would have it in some form. I rely on it to keep my interest up when I can't get to a game. Even home games are long way from the West of Scotland where I live

bryn

...here we go!

BrianT

You can't spend the whole season calling T20 "Mickey Mouse" cricket and then criticise people for not paying £50 to watch it.

exiledgeordie

Parky - are you sure we will have home commentary next year?

parky

re: Lancs - if only because they don't do home commentary

marchy22

gutted lancs got relegated, NOT

Wicket!

Chris Rushworth strikes first ball! Nash is caught by Collingwood on 7. Sussex 9-1.

10:35am

parky

9-1

We're on!

Play has begin here at Emirates Durham ICG - Graham Onions bowls the first over. Sussex 7-0.

10:31am

parky

anyone know the BBC Live Event number on Tune In Radio?

foxbat

*done

foxbat

Yvette could you perhaps tell us what (if any) building work is being doing during the off season at the ground?

Mackem_Dave

Valid comments maidenover. I was also unhappy that I paid £50 for my ticket and then the club did a BOGOF offer during the week before the game. Its unlikely to get me to buy early next time although I do already have my ashes tickets.

Sussex team

Sussex: Nash, Wells, Machan, Gatting, Yardy, Brown, Wernars, Magoffin, Hatchett, Panesar, Adkin

10:12am

maidenover

Sky when commenting on it not being a sell out said they had had numerous texts re the high cost of tickets as well as other costly events over the summer eg olympics, football season starting which had left people short of money

Durham team

Durham: Stoneman, Jennings, Richardson, Stokes, Benkenstein, Collingwood, Mustard, Borthwick, Thorp, Onions, Rushworth

10:10am

foxbat

Congratulations to everyone involved on Saturday it was great day. Looking forward to the Ashes test at the Riverside now!

Toss result

Durham have won the toss and will field first

10:08am

Mackem_Dave

I hate to put a downer on the praise for Saturday but, where were all the Durham fans? I was there and the ground looked about 80% full and that was after more than half the temporary seating had already been removed. If the Durham public is not prepared to get behind the England games and attend the matches I cannot see the club applying to host many more one day games. I cannot imagine the club did much more than break even on Saturday.

daleslass

Don't think I can make it down today as I have an important meeting to go to. Good luck to the lads today.

chrissafc

on my way down to the game, looking forward to it. i wasnt at the game on saturday but it seems as though durham ccc have once again provided an excellent day for the paying public, just like they did for the eng vs aus game which was excellent. good luck to the lads today.

BrianT

Durham's involvement in the T20's was superb. Visitors I spoke to were full of praise. The venue, weather, parking, catering queues, stewarding, support were all first class.

Terrier

Yvette, Can you please congratulate everyone involved in Saturday's internationals. It was a super day, with a great atmosphere and extremely well organised. A pity both games were so one sided.

Day one

Soem rain this morning but the mopping up is underway and ther eare blue skies. Hopefully all is fine for 10.30am start.
