Nice placement Colonel!!
brandonia
We couldn't have done anything about the weather or the pitches but we could have used more application - after all, we were losing games despite our fantastic bowling efforts. Conitions were tough for batting but the opposition were playing in the same conditions and they coped.
Mark
Don't think there was much we could have done about the poor start-conditions were awful for batting and we had no luck at all.
brandonia
I must say I think we've missed a trick this season. If Sussex are good enough to come 2nd in the Championship then it highlights how much of an underacheiving season we've had. We're miles better than them, man for man.

Durham 122-6 with Borthwick yet to score and Mustard 3*.

Is there going to be a LMC next season?? I reckon you should still do it on the side Yvette, or if they want I'll do it. I don't want to do all that PR stuff like, just the updates will be fine!
brandonia
Shot Rocky! Hammers adkin through backward cover for four.
daleslass
Will be back down tomorrow. Hope its not as cold as it is today.
brandonia
Gutted about Marty like, are all counties being cut or just us?!
Tynevalleyblackcat
You wait ages for a boundary and then two come along at once.
BrianT
Is there anybody out there? Slow progress here. Waiting for an early finish and then three days to make progress.
brandonia
Richo on as a Runner for Rocky.
Tynevalleyblackcat
Needless to say, we could do with a decent stand here.

Would be a shame to bat well for the rest of today and be in a good position and then be frustrated by the weather. 39 overs tonight, so I would be looking for around 150 for not many at the close.
We're back!
The Durham innings begins with Mark Stoneman and Keaton Jennings at the crease. There are 39 overs remaining tonight.

Trying to convince one of my grandchildren to come to the cricket to fulfil some baby-sitting duties. Is the ice cream van there? If not, it may be the museum for me I'm afraid.

Afternoon Brian
BrianT
Good afternoon Marchy. Good partnership this. On the other hand it shows that the wicket has stopped misbehaving which will be good for Durham, sooner rather than later I hope.

When reading the ECB verdict on Durham's salary cap breach I thought we would start next season with a points bonus! A 2.5 points deduction was the minimum penalty. I wonder if there are other clubs in breach that have not acted as professionally as Durham did? I will watch with interest.
Wicket!
Gatting is out lbw to Onions for 14! Sussex 55-3.

I watched quite a lot of the women's T20 from Luxembourg and was hugely impressed by the England team's skill levels. A catch by Shrubsole and a run out by Edwards would not have disgraced Colly on a good day and there was a very sharp stumping by Taylor. Yvette, why does Durham Women's cricket not have a page on the website, although i see that there is a Women's Cricket Development Officer. England would be even better with a few Durham lasses to call upon! haway the lasses!
Update
Sussex 42-2 after 14 overs, Stokes has joined the attack and is into his fourth over.

G'day all.It would be great to finish with a win and perhaps boost us a place up the final list.

Parky - I hope you're right. Martin didn't sound too sure last time I heard him. Living near Brum I really value his commentary.
Mackem_Dave
The words 'T20 Mickey Mouse' cricket never came from me. T20 is more important that championship cricket for the financial well being of county cricket even if the 'old farts' criticise it.
parky
Martin E seemed to think we would have it in some form. I rely on it to keep my interest up when I can't get to a game. Even home games are long way from the West of Scotland where I live
bryn
...here we go!
BrianT
You can't spend the whole season calling T20 "Mickey Mouse" cricket and then criticise people for not paying £50 to watch it.
exiledgeordie
Parky - are you sure we will have home commentary next year?
parky
re: Lancs - if only because they don't do home commentary

Yvette could you perhaps tell us what (if any) building work is being doing during the off season at the ground?
Mackem_Dave
Valid comments maidenover. I was also unhappy that I paid £50 for my ticket and then the club did a BOGOF offer during the week before the game. Its unlikely to get me to buy early next time although I do already have my ashes tickets.
Sussex team
Sussex: Nash, Wells, Machan, Gatting, Yardy, Brown, Wernars, Magoffin, Hatchett, Panesar, Adkin

maidenover
Sky when commenting on it not being a sell out said they had had numerous texts re the high cost of tickets as well as other costly events over the summer eg olympics, football season starting which had left people short of money
Durham team
Durham: Stoneman, Jennings, Richardson, Stokes, Benkenstein, Collingwood, Mustard, Borthwick, Thorp, Onions, Rushworth

I hate to put a downer on the praise for Saturday but, where were all the Durham fans? I was there and the ground looked about 80% full and that was after more than half the temporary seating had already been removed. If the Durham public is not prepared to get behind the England games and attend the matches I cannot see the club applying to host many more one day games. I cannot imagine the club did much more than break even on Saturday.
daleslass
Don't think I can make it down today as I have an important meeting to go to. Good luck to the lads today.
chrissafc
on my way down to the game, looking forward to it. i wasnt at the game on saturday but it seems as though durham ccc have once again provided an excellent day for the paying public, just like they did for the eng vs aus game which was excellent. good luck to the lads today.
BrianT
Durham's involvement in the T20's was superb. Visitors I spoke to were full of praise. The venue, weather, parking, catering queues, stewarding, support were all first class.
Terrier
Yvette, Can you please congratulate everyone involved in Saturday's internationals. It was a super day, with a great atmosphere and extremely well organised. A pity both games were so one sided.
Day one
Soem rain this morning but the mopping up is underway and ther eare blue skies. Hopefully all is fine for 10.30am start.
