bryn
I bet 'yous' were gonna streak as well, gutting :-(
marchy22
give borthwick an over before the close and get everyone round the bat
marchy22
they want shot for blowing it last game of the season and of all teams to lose to tynemouth, very poor
bryn
You must have got too carried away and actually said 'yer kna what? We gonna win this! :-(
marchy22
this is exactly the same as the first innings, get them 5 down in the 60s then they have a 6th wicket recovery, come on lads get a wicket
marchy22
lost their first game of the season and with it the title to south north
bryn
How'd blaydon do at the weekend?
marchy22
we need to break this partnership tonight
chrissafc
they play tomorrow
safcluke
how did the seconds get on?
We're back!
We're back on...six overs left tonight.
5:40pm
Update
We're off for bad light here...
5:33pm
CollingwoodFTM
Is that a wicket and bad light?
marchy22
gonna be another 6th wicket partnership of 100+ like they had in the 1st innings
chrissafc
2 "local" away games
safcluke
Looks like Derby & Yorkshire will be getting promoted. Good to see Derby in LVCC 1. Karl Krikken has done a good job with them.
marchy22
get onions he will make the break through
marchy22
like i said he will punish the drop
brandonia
Wells onto 41*.
Update
Sussex 82-5 after 28 overs, Brown 6* and Wells 37*
5:11pm
marchy22
he will punish that drop and score a century
marchy22
he will punish that drop and score a century
Stan Drop
Let's get Wells out tonight and give Yvette a victorious send-off tomorrow. I'm off to the pub now, then home to watch Engerlund. See you all tomorrow
brandonia
Wells dropped by Stokes.
Stan Drop
What did we put in their tea?
bryn
oh for a power monkey! :-(
brandonia
Yeah, he batted well first innings and was not out. Wells is their best batsmen too so this partnership could hurt us.
marchy22
ben brown to score an other half century here ;)
marchy22
kent looking like they have blown their chances of promotion
brandonia
Yesssssss Cal!! 53-5 in effect.
Wicket!
Sussex 69-5! Wernars is out lbw to Thorp for 1.
4:53pm
marchy22
5 down?
keenasmustard
Wicket
brandonia
Get in Stokesy! Just chipping away nicely here.
Stokes again!
Stokes strikes again! Machan is caught behind on 6. Sussex 68-4 after 22.2 overs.
4:49pm
Tea
Tea time here...Sussex 51-3, Machan 0* and Wells 20*.
4:13pm
tomb
It makes for exciting games though I think we are lucky not to have points deducted for it, low scores shouldnt be the case for every innings in every game, particularly the top 3 of teams seem to find batting against the new ball impossible.
Tynevalleyblackcat
31 for 3 effectively. Regardless of the weather, games at the Riverside continue to develop at break neck speed.
Wicket!
Wicket for Stokes! Gatting is caught behind. Sussex 47-3!
4:06pm
chrissafc
Nottinghamshire duo Scott Elstone and Karl Turner have been told that they will not be offered new deals next season
BrianT
Just before I go, well done Thorpe. Stokes had four runs and a no ball off the over. Plus one mi*** skywards. Not a bad over from a wicket-taker. Bye for now Marchy.
Wicket!
Sussex 46-2 as Callum Thorp has Yardy trapped lbw on 29.
3:53pm
marchy22
stokes getting pasted straight off
BrianT
On my way down now despite Marty's forebodings on weather. There's always the bar I suppose.
Bowling change
Ben Stokes comes on for the 13th over. Sussex 38-1.
3:46pm
tomb
Me neither
keenasmustard
I don't understand why we signed Myburgh beyond the T20 then just played him in one match.
tomb
I usually get along for two days ish of every game, sometimes more. Think David Harker is still the bean counter, not really an error, just miscalculating which players might have bben on an ECB contract, Onions will be on aincrememntal contract from now on. LMC might be vital but whos gonna be employed to do it if finances are tight, would need somebody doing it as a hobby at the games probably.
marchy22
bowlers havent bowled very tightly this match
exiledgeordie
Have Durham hired a new bean-counter?
Stan Drop
LMC is a vital link for those of us (even if itb is only raydetmold and me) who live abroad and can't get over to CLS very often.
keenasmustard
I go to at least one day of every CC game but work commitments prevent me going more often.
marchy22
haway lads lets have another wicket
marchy22
haway lads lets have another wicket
marchy22
id love to go watch durham every day but other priorities in life means i cant
Latest
Sussex 30-1 after 8.3 overs, Yardy 20* and Wells 10*.
3:32pm
tomb
Need someone else to do it, and if its anything like where I work, if someone leaves, they dont get replaced anymore. Hope I'm wrong and it continues.
BrianT
We might actually have to go and watch Durham.
keenasmustard
It would be a shame if there was no LMC. Remember next year we wont have radio commentary so losing this would be a double blow. I don't think any other county website has anything like this.
marchy22
good luck for everything you do in the future yvette, you will be sorley missed if live chat continues
marchy22
i dont think they will have live match chat next year so tomorrow might be the last day we get to chat to one another
exiledgeordie
No Yvette. No forum. No commentary. Will they carry on with cricket next year?
tomb
Not convincved there will be a replacement, hope there is as its been a good service for supporters.
tomb
Not convincved there will be a replacement, hope there is as its been a good service for supporters.
keenasmustard
Lancs v Surrey no play for the second consecutive day.
aapierre
shame you will be leaving -
chrissafc
very good, i wish you well with all of that
Response
I have some freelance projects lined up!
3:09pm
aapierre
yeah yvette , I missed that snippet too ?
chrissafc
where you off to yvette?
Stan Drop
Thanks Yvette. I am sorry that you are leaving us and wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
tomb
Disagree Stan Drop, its too in favour of bowlers, every one has struggled on it this season
Wicket!
Chris Rushworth strikes third ball! Nash is the man out. Sussex 6-1.
3:03pm
Response to Stan Drop
Women's cricket is run by the Durham Cricket Board, which has a link on this website. All departments are encouraged to send us content for the website, which, if we receive, we do post.
3:01pm
Sussex second innings
Sussex 2-0, Nash and Wells at the crease. Graham Onions is bowling the first over.
3:00pm
Stan Drop
Yvette, could you answer my question from yesterday: "Why does Durham Women's cricket not have a page on the website? Although I see that there is a Women's Cricket Development Officer. England would be even better with a few Durham lasses to call upon!
Stan Drop
Pitch OK. Batters need to improve!
tomb
Another huge score at the Riverside, is the pitch ever going to improve?
Durham post 227
Durham post 227 - a lead of 16.
2:53pm
Stan Drop
Bunny out from Monty's first after the break
bryn
A dance off with blackie! Id pay to see that!
chrissafc
KP probably would have asked to be put into the final straight away
keenasmustard
Surprised KP isn't doing Strictly. It's not as if he has anything on at present.
Tynevalleyblackcat
All out and lead is 16
tomb
Harmys doing it to get some excercise in
Tynevalleyblackcat
Good little session that!!!!!!
Were back on
Were back on at Emirates Durham, Graham Onions and Chris Rushworth return to the crease.
2:48pm
Stan Drop
I agree with keenas. It would be good value for money. They had a hover cover at Old Trafford too, but it didn't stop the game from being rained off with only five balls to go to get a result;)
bryn
Blackies appearing after the final on sat,he'll probably win given the last few weeks hes had!
tomb
Who else is on Strictly Bryn, Mike Gatting, Sir Geoffrey Boycott?
keenasmustard
@aapierre -It is fast and reliable, carries the side sheets and bowlers' run-up covers, and is a great sponsorship opportunity to boot. It is lightweight and easy to manoeuvre
bryn
Bit rain starting
aapierre
why is a hover cover better than a traditional one ?
bryn
:-@
bryn
...thats on strictly of course, not some weird thing him and i have going on!
keenasmustard
I'd prefer to see Vaughan on a skewer.
peter_brent
afternoon all, I don't believe the Oval have a hover cover. Not sure how many have got them Lords does possibly Edgbaston.
tomb
Surely we can afford a sliding roof like at Wimbledon!
bryn
Im looking forward to seeing michael vaughan in sequins on sat!
keenasmustard
The hover covers are better though. I think all of the test grounds have one.
aapierre
@ keenasmustard would the ECB not have a minimum standard cover and thus Durham must comply with that?
Mackem_Dave
Still persistantly coming down in Seaton.
chrissafc
which part of teesside you at?
Its drying up!
The sun is shining over Emirates Durham and we are aiming for a 2.45 start.
2:22pm
Tynevalleyblackcat
Seems we spend most of our money on players salaries Keenas!!
keenasmustard
I was looking at our covers yesterday and felt they were sub-standard for a test ground. Surely we can afford on of those hover-covers.
auldtimer
The sheets are coming off.
Tynevalleyblackcat
Much brighter now here in Sunny Sunderland!!
keenasmustard
Sun is out in Teeside.
Mark
I'm a couple of miles from the ground and it's getting brighter here as well so hopefully play will be able to resume soon.
tomb
Just brightened up and rain easing in Durham
auldtimer
It's getting brighter but the rains getting heavier at the ground.
BrianT
I know. I think they referred to that problem in the summary. However, if there are any other clubs who've innocently breached it and not owned up They won't get away so lightly.
tomb
Its a tricky one for clubs if you have to factor in who might or might not be on a ECB paid central contract.
BrianT
I know we're minus 2.5 for next season for breaching the salary cap but reading the ECB comment on it, the club came out of it with a great deal of credit. I just wonder what penalties might be in store for other clubs who have been less forthcoming. They did say that Durham were the only ones to come forward.
Tynevalleyblackcat
Forecast is for this to blow over soon, but it does not look like it here at Doxford Park.
Lunch
Durham 227-9 at the lunch break
12:49pm
CollingwoodFTM
200 - 6 when I left the PC.
tomb
its quite heavy here so might be off for a while now
keenasmustard
*meant the scheduled lunch time, not after lunch
keenasmustard
Tomb, they go on for up to half an hour after lunch when 9 wickets are down - a new rule. the rain has made it academic anyway now.
Rain..
And the rain returns...I think that'll be lunch!
12:39pm
tomb
Late lunch?
Update
That's a lead of 6! Bunny 7* and Rushy 6*.
12:35pm
Tynevalleyblackcat
We lead :)
Tynevalleyblackcat
Level now.
tomb
Whats happened lads? Its pouring doon in Durham now, amazed you're still playing.
keenasmustard
It will be spooky if we get all out for the same score as them. That's exactly what happened in the same fixture a few weeks ago at Arundel.
Tynevalleyblackcat
Lets just get level.
Wicket...
Wernars bowls Thorp for 1. Durham 203-9, Rushworth and Onions at the crease.
12:23pm
bryn
Who said that?? :-)
BrianT
9 for 2 in the last 10 overs. We really are useless at batting in the dark!
Tynevalleyblackcat
Come on lads, dig in and at least get parity!!
Wicket...
Borthwick is caught off Wernars for 35. Durham 202-8.
12:16pm
Tynevalleyblackcat
Shame we could not get past their score before losing that wicket, but that stand has at least got us back on track. Hopefully dig in now and get a useful little lead.
Wicket...
Durham 202-7 after Mustard is out lbw to Nash on 45. Callum Thorp joins Borthwick (35*).
12:12pm
chrissafc
would love to know what his batting average is since the t20 finished. he's been as good as anyone
chrissafc
yeah borthwick is best at durham, dont think he's england class as of yet. just think the lad has taken a lot of unjustified stick off some people. delighted at how well he's playing at the moment. he's been excellent
Durham 200
Durham reach 200 - Borthwick 33* and Mustard 45*
12:04pm
tomb
Raining in Durham for the last hour or so
tomb
Mustard I meant for England, not Borthwick, yet
tomb
Magoffin looked handy yesterday
tomb
Certainly would do a job in the 50 over team, cant do much worse than Bopara. We lost points for slow over rate, seemed a bit harsh but there you go. We're -2.5 for next season already.
BrianT
I think over rate only kicks in after 4 hours of an innings. Still fuming at 4 points deducted against Lancs. What was all that about?
chrissafc
sussex bowled well yesterday but once again borthwick digging in and mustard doing very well
tomb
So much for Sussxe being in charge, not yet anyway
chrissafc
199/6 - batting point soon. p/ship 80
Latest
Durham 194-6 after 62 overs, Borthwick 33* and Mustard 40*
11:53am
chrissafc
scott borthwick doesnt get the credit he deserves
chrissafc
why is marty mentioning -3 over rate? we ended on -1
chrissafc
193/6
aapierre
so mustard has stickability deserved more england chances really
keenasmustard
147
tomb
Congrats to Phil, how many appearances is that?
tomb
I found that report a bit biased towards Sussex as well, they were hardly in charge at that point, plus ourl ower order and Phil are well capapble of adding runs.
Latest
Durham 180-6, Mustard 40* and Borthwick 20*.
11:24am
chrissafc
they are clearing it out, what's out is basically it.
keenasmustard
Disapponted there were no Durham baseball caps in the shop yesterday. Only shirts & tops.
chrissafc
family stick together :)
bryn
:-)
chrissafc
i'll pass on the "kirk" comments :)
chrissafc
he's in tomorrow
bryn
is kirk working in the shop today?
chrissafc
borthwick once again proving his worth.
BrianT
Club shop is class but could be bigger. Keep going in to buy a cushion and get offered an umbrella instead.
chrissafc
club shop sale yesterday. cotton traders contract up.
BrianT
He only gets picked because his cousin's a fast bowler. Have I got that right?
chrissafc
Phil Mustard now Durham's appearance record holder.
parttimeanalyst
Perhaps they're trying the Marchy tactics?
BrianT
Well there is one Match of the day who should go along with Lawrenson and Hansen. Garth Crooks would get my vote. Quite like Piers Morgan though. I think they should all be replaced by Matt Baker and Marty.
CollingwoodFTM
I thought the BBC website match report was slightly misleading stating Sussex were in charge. We are not out of this by a long way.
tomb
Grrr, I cant stand the man, is he not on ITV though? No time for smug and self centred people, luckily not many like that in the North East.
Update
Durham 165-6, Mustard 26* and Borthwick 19*
11:09am
keenasmustard
As we're getting rid of people I'd like to nominate Piers Morgan. Nothing to do with cricket, I just can't stand him.
tomb
I've just got a DCCC logo tattoed on me bicep, thanks Brian. Aye, Wossey gets paid for too much to take the P out of his guests, Ih ate chat shows anyways....
chrissafc
also get rid of alan hansen on MOTD.
parttimeanalyst
Make it "Cricket in Need"?
chrissafc
stop paying terry wogan for CIN night
BrianT
Get rid of Jonathan Woss and share his wages around local wadio stations.
We're back!
Play resumes, Durham 151-6, Mustard 21* and Borthwick 10*.
10:57am
chrissafc
all part of the BBC cuts I guess. those at the top probably still be driving around in flash cars, having nice holidays, whilst important services to the public are cut. the way of the world sadly.
Rain....
A pretty heavy shower stops play...
10:53am
Response to keenasmustard
William has covered some games. He is doing analysis for us.
10:49am
BrianT
I agree Chris. Going on a bit about the clouds though, might stop people coming down.
keenasmustard
Who is the mysterious W Dobson on the scorecard then?
Response to keenasmustard
Richie Hilton is scoring for us this game.
10:47am
chrissafc
obviously havent listened to the commentary often this season, but just heard marty mentioning it appears to be the end of the radio comms which is a massive shame for a lot of fans
keenasmustard
Yvette I see we have another scorer in the box for this game. Who is he?
We're on!
So, play has begun here - Durham 131-6, Mustard 7* and Borthwick 4*.
10:33am
bryn
Gonna have a mooch down in a bit tho ive scrapped my plans to go in fancy dress as a baywatch lifeguard!
BrianT
To all young LMC followers, I was only joking. Tatoos are stupid and you can't be a blood donor for a while after you've had one.
tomb
I'll be there tomorrow, probably the last day (or session)of the season. I wish I had some tattoos to show off. Wonder if we'l ever see a four day match at the Riverside again, without rain interruptions 2 and a half days max seems the norm now.
BrianT
We were warned it would be cold. It's not just the lateness in the year. The coldest I've been at the EICG was the match during that royal wedding which was June I think. Dress appropriately, cover your tatoos and shelter behind a golf umbrella, or rather, in front of one.
brandonia
Winter is on the way for sure. 300 all out today and Sussex will be 61-5 at Close!
chrissafc
yeah was sat in county durham stand for the 1st session yesterday, felt like -20. moved into the members lounge after that.
chrissafc
i'll be down tomorrow providing the game lasts that long
tomb
Thanks to Yvette for the service on the Live Chat over the years.
tomb
Cold, it was effing freezing! Hoping to come along later on.
chrissafc
not normally one to feel the cold, but yesterday was a cold day down at the ground
Day two
It's a bit chilly but dry at Emirates Durham - we should be starting on time at 10.30am!
9:08am
