No he's not injured
Tom87
True TVBC, and Sir G I agree I think Borthy would have been a better option in these conditions is he injured?
tomb
TVBC, it good be a cracking match, maybe will go down to the wire second innings
Tynevalleyblackcat
We still have 76 runs to play with, so a first innings lead is not out of the question.
tomb
Plunkett is too expensive in most games and we cant afford to carry someone like that, which is why he was dropped in the first place. I don't get why people keep calling for him to be recalled, he's been out of form for at least three seasons. His Dad was at the last home game as usual watching and we all want him to do well but surely play him in the seconds till he finds some consistency
Tynevalleyblackcat
There's one. Now lets have the other one.
via SMS
Brandonia: Yes! Needed that. Well bowled Harra. 99 partnership. Comms are gutted.
Mark
How many matches has he pplayed though? If he's coming in before Thomas he must be able to bat well.
Sir gareth
This is why both harmy and pudsey shouldn't have played to big a risk
Wicket!
Overton is caught behind off Harrison on 50. Somerset 308-7!
4:52pm
keenasmustard
Overton had a higest score of about 12 before today.
Mark
To be fair ir's not as if we're bowling to two tail-enders. Trego is a real dangerman and Overton is obviously a decent batsman. However the run rate does seem ridiculously high.
Overton 50
Craig Overton reaches fifty. Somerset 305-6.
4:50pm
marchy22
They will have a lead on half an hour let alone by close. Lack of killer instinct when we have a team on the ropes
keenasmustard
I see hope running towards the sea with its backside on fire.

We need one of the bowlers to do something magical-and do it very quickly.

Great stuff. BTW, someone mentioned about home fans laughing at Stokesy's run-out yesterday. I saw it on Sky Sports news last night and it was more like gasps at an amazing bit of fielding. Ben drove hard into the ground and the ball was going way over the bowlers head, but somehow he changed direction leapt up, caught it with one hand and threw the stumps down almost before he landed. Awesome!

For the people who were demanding that Plunkett should always be in the team, this is why he was left out. Not because he doesnt take wickets, he does, but because he is very expensive. I find it incredible that many on the forum feel he should be an automatic pick ahead of Thorp and Claydon who are both more consistent. I would play him in the one day stuff, not so sure about the four dayers. He is good at getting the tail out with his variations but we have harmy hopefully to do that.

Disapointing the way we've collapsed after a great start. 2 of the top order batsman being run out. Ridgeley: is tom jones gettin married like??
BrianT
I think the Futureheads have organised a joint food/beer festival at Nissan SSC on 14 July. Clashes with Tom Jones and my nephew's wedding. Decisions, decisions.

I was impressed with Harrison during the CB40 game

Morning all. Interesting days cricket ahead. Can we get up past 400, probabley not but with Liam still there it is possible, then can our bowlers get amongst them, how will returning Harmison and Plunkett and debutant Harrison perform, bring it on!!

All this talk of Ashbrooke has made me think about another of my loves. Is the beer festival going ahead this year? It was second weekend in June last year, but I have heard nothing?
BrianT
And we compain that we've not won the championship for two seasons!

Who was the team scapegoat back in those days I wonder? Scary to think Durham as a first class county may well never have happened, my life would be very different, I would have plenty days leave left.
BrianT
He was probably there.

Brandonia: Morning all! I thought Vic Marks was pretty insightful and unbiased yesterday. Hopefully we can frustrate them for an hour or so this morning

The report on the BBC website reckons Durham are in charge. The concensus on here is a bit different, that maybe 400 or 450 would be a par score, time will tell.

A special day then. We owe them a great deal. I live near Ashbrooke and love watching cricket there. Ground and team have seen better days. 28,000 crowd to see Aussies in 1948.
Happy 130th Birthday Durham CCC!
On 23 May 1882 Durham County Cricket Club was formed in The Three Tuns Hotel, Durham. The first match was played on 12 June as Durham CCC defeated Northumberland by four wickets at Ashbrooke, Sunderland.

Radio commentary team includes Vic Marks, chairman of Somerstet selection committee. Why should he be unbiased? Would you be? Time for a quick 50 from Liam and then show them how to bowl.
Day two
More lovely weather in Taunton this morning! Remember, play starts at the normal time today, 11am.
