Aye Chris has just rang me from his work in boro and he's saying its really hot.
tomb
Dont think hes a great one day player.
via SMS
Brandonia: Fair enough Ash. Glorious sunshine in Hartlepool now!! Unbelievable!!!
tomb
Chance of rain on Sunday at Colwyn Bay, might get away with it
safcluke
I think Onions could be playing for Englands ODI team v Windies & Australia.
tomb
Doesnt seem to, I think Brathwaite wont play either, Rushworth and Harrison may come in for Onions for a couple of games
safcluke
apart from Thorp cos he doesn't usually play One Day cricket does he?
tomb
I think Geoff may rotate the seamers for the t20 maybe with Claydon playing them all
safcluke
It sounds stupid but Harrison has done so well, i'd be tempted to leave him out of 20/20 and let him play 2nd team championship cricket instead where he wont stand the chance of getting wacked all over. Keep him sorted for Worcester in July.
tomb
Suppose Smith might got the nod as he is a good fielder.
safcluke
that batting is in no particular order.
tomb
Sorry Plunkett instead of Harrison
safcluke
mustard, gibbs, colly, stokes, benks, smith, muchall, plunkett, breese or scotty, rushy, mitch/onions

ashleys army
Live in shields not born in shields brandy
safcluke
lets predict our 20/20 team.
tomb
Most of the wickets will be out caught in the outfield. Like the evening games but three Sunday games? Why not play two games on a Sunday?
safcluke
if you can bowl 90mph+ and straight you can win 20/20 single handed.
safcluke
20/20 silly season now. boring boring boring!
tomb
Worcester game could be crucial
stephsafc
Never know, but I agree Luke, much better effort. At least it gives the players an extra day to nurse any injuries.
safcluke
Dont think we would of won the game personally. But much better effort by the lads.
stephsafc
Gutted that the umpires have called it a day. We weren't doing badly at all. Can't help the weather I suppose... :(
via SMS
Brandonia: Here Ash, you're not one of them NS Ultras are ya?!!
via SMS
Brandonia: Sorry, that was for Ashley.
via SMS
Brandonia: You should follow Northumberland then surely Tomb?!!
tomb
The way its going two or three wins may be enough to stay up
ashleys army
Story of season so far, rain stops play
tomb
Wow, so soon? Unlucky lads, better performance, would have backed us to win from this position
Update
The umpires have called it a day, it's still raining here - match drawn
12:53pm
ashleys army
North shields for me mate
tomb
Just a bit of teasing chris
via SMS
Brandonia: Less of the Tyne-Wear bashing kids. There's no question that neither of the two can hold a candle for the might of Brandon United.
ashleys army
I'll b there Sunday mate keep smiling
chrissafc
obviously half term this week. oh well this looks like a draw. back sunday
ashleys army

ashleys army

As Murray used to say,1 moreseat n I'll b happy

Tristan
hilarious
ashleys army
Nice to see a big crowd at sunderland yesterday for a change!
chrissafc
ha ha. he'll be whinging about expectations within a month
Tristan
apart from team selection, substitutions, motivation & tactcs he did fine
ashleys army
Don't know Chris I thout he did a gud job

Brandonia: Hull fans have it bad enough living in Hull!!
chrissafc
i feel sorry for hull fans
Tristan
guess we will never know. wonder which hull city player will become his next future son in law
tomb
Have they taken an early lunch? Rain is easing here
tomb
Deluded fans wont give him a chance. Mrs Doubtfire has returned
Tristan
give him more time marra, they just need time to gel, 10th place finish etc
tomb
Not much of a Geordie at Man U, his accent seemed to come back when he went to Sunderland. I still think he would have done OK if Bent had stayed. Guiness in Dublin is fantastic, sweeter and less bitter than the version we get.
via SMS
Dion Dublin?? Is he going to become Bruce's first signing at Hull? I wonder if the Sunderland fans get him the sack.
Tristan
honestly you will never look at another scotch egg again, its like they say about having guiness in dublin
via SMS
Brandonia: I don't mind messy, I'll give it a go like. Always keen to try all these new and exotic recipes!!
Tristan
Steve Bruce set to take over as Hull City boss. How long before his geordie roots come back to haunt him?
Tristan
Brandon; you must try your hand at scotch eggs, they are very simple to make, just messy, but they are absolutely smashing when eaten fresh, you will never look back sir!
Tristan
aye, but you arent guarnateed an exciting finish in any form of cricket
tomb
I am mad! I certainly enjoyed our batting in that game but it was more of a point on what can happen in 40 over cricket to make it a boring finish. Of course Rushys bowling spell wasnt dull either.
via SMS
Brandonia: Here Norm, HOME to Parklife tomorrow. It's about time you came to Brandon to sample the Teas and have a pint bought by me!
via SMS
be eaten before the second game!
via SMS
Brandonia: Nah, never made the Scotch Egg, just making the Tea. Telt our lass though I won't start it until full time of Poland v Greece and that it must
Tristan
home made scotch eggs then i assume brandy? food of the gods that, dripping yolk, big blob of mustard, sizzlingly hot meat, crunchy breadcrumbs lovely stuff mmmmm im hungry now
via SMS
Brandonia: No fish today Norm. Just had a Scotch Egg like. Having Chicken wrapped in Chorizo with Spicy Wedges for Tea - all made by the hands of me. Top chef
Tristan
tomb; you must be mad, if you cant enjoy a win what can you enjoy? i would be happy to watch us in form, bowling well, fielding well etc, plenty of good performances to cheer on. you cant tell me you left the lancs game happier than against notts?
SixSixEight
*sigh* I was not there to experience that exquisite dullness....in my book it is never dull if we win no matter how one sided :)
via SMS
Brandonia: Dinnar Tristy, I ha it on the wireless, 603MW. They went off at noon though. They'll return if there's any play.
tomb
Was Onions named in the test side?
tomb
The finish against Notts on Sunday was extremely dull, we had it won after 10 overs of their innings
SixSixEight
True
Tristan
agreed 668, but if its a one sided game it tends to be dull whatever the format, the more cricke the better is my motto
SixSixEight
40 tense finishes if the teams are well matched but if not - dull dull dull. And not as good as a Championship tense finish!
Tristan
in fact its all tennis?
Tristan
brandon - is tms suddenly started boradcasting some french stuff over teh top of it or is my computer/brain going crazy??
SixSixEight
I'd like to go to more T20 but the disadvantage with not living near the team is that it is a very expensive afternoon out for not much cricket. And a late finish means having to stay over cos there is no transport back. It is at weekends too and is far too short to make taking a day off worth it.
Tristan
although for teh sake of domestic/international continuity i think our pro40 comp should be 50 overs
Tristan
prefer the 40 over stuff to t20, teh game has longer to develop, as a result the tense finishes are more interesting because of the build up. its like if they made football 20 minutes matches, i can see how it suits some people due to all being over quicker but its not really for me
tomb
I will still be going as I have an OCD thing with cricket, I don't like to miss the games. I would prefer them to drop the music and the 'hi-ho's
SixSixEight
I like T20 - not so fussed with the 40 stuff although I'm going to give it a go at Colwyn bay. But the Championship is the real deal! I've met quite a lot of people who started with T20 and have seen the light so it has its uses :)
poolynorm
What fish shop you stalking today Brando?
tomb
At least theres only 5 home games this time. I cringe when people at those games say they only like T20 and find the 4 day stuff dull. Aargh!!
via SMS
Brandonia: TMS is very interesting and funny this morning. Despite the rain!
SixSixEight
Pooly I'm back in London now. When I'm at any match I have no internet or any other way of getting on LMC. Also work occasionally gets in the way too! So not seeing much LMC action at all this season - will be on for some of the weekday T20s
poolynorm
Sure David Miller and his brother were in a group?
Tristan
i think he was the lead singer in 'support and encourage'
Tristan
are you thinking of karl kennedy pooly? another fantastic aussie
poolynorm
Long time no hear Sixy.Welcome back.
SixSixEight
Real shame about the weather - with Rushy looking as good as he did the other day you'd have to bet he would have been in line for a 10fer for the match if he played again like that.
poolynorm
Is that the guy who was in a band Tristy?
Tristan
hoesntly cant remember how he did for us, did we sign him after warner pulled out was it the other way round? may even have been in different season tbh
Tristan
yorks have signed david miller for the t20, likely to make his debut against us
Tristan
life as county cricketer is one long lunch break at the minute :(
bryn
If I may speak for dales lass it's plooting down in cls :-(
SixSixEight
Tomb I like T20 when it's played by teams that know what they are doing; decent bowlers, good tactics. I'm going to give 3 away games a go. Herschelle Gibbs - I can't get excited about him. Would like it if we got our bowling right for the very short stuff. If they ain't going to play Thorpy in CC I wonder how he would do bowling in T20?
stephsafc
Well its looking dank and awful in Wheatley Hill...
poolynorm
Can someone check on Yvette.I think she's fell asleep again.Has Dales Lass got the latest weather report?
Tristan
sorry for my awful typing btw
Tristan
there was rumours doing teh rounds that rollig stones would be at the sol, we passed on springsteen because of that and now will have to wait another year to do a gig at the sol, still not been to one like, i bet its canny
via SMS
Brandonia: Re - Chris Martin, he's just not rock and roll enough for me. Anyway, is the sun out yet?!
Tristan
good lad bryn will need your runs around the top/middle order
bryn
Trists put my name down for the coach on Sunday it'll make a pleasant change getting soaked abroad!
Tristan
would much rather have 4 day & test matches and a 50 over competition domestically & internationally and nowt else. leave 20 over stuff to the villages
Tristan
though i would obviously want dccc to do well in it for the players sake i would take one championship win in return for losing every t20 mach
Tristan
i dont really rate the t20, its all over too quickly, a large amount of skill is eradicated from the game, just seems pointles to me
Tristan
tomb; someone made the same comment on teh smb, honestly think they probably will :(
tomb
Anyone on here actually like T20? I hope Herschelle Gibbs pops into Austins, he's a bit of a livewire apparently
Tristan
i dont think uefa listen to anyone. their statement about the holland training session mentioned anothing about racist chants, just said loads were there 'enjoying themselves, oohing and ahhing' funny how te dutch captain van bommel didnt see it quite like that
tomb
Do you think the tv coverage will have the crowd noise turned down so any morons chants wont be heard? I still think if the players walk off a few people will be quite happy with themselves. Lets hope that it isnt as bad as we are fearing though from Hollands warm up session that seems unlikely.
Stan Drop
Tristan, do you think that UEFA follows LMC?
Stan Drop
Let's put this game out of its misery /sic) now and look forward to the second half of the season. After recent performances I am quite optimistic that it will go a lot better , weather always permitting. A few more good results in the CB40, and even the awful T20 will help to boost morale as well.
chrissafc
platini obviously brown nosing poland/ukraine for votes for his election
chrissafc
uefa would be interested if it happened in england
Tristan
totally agree with you standrop
Tristan
no it wouldnt. the racist people in the stadium dont go there to hound the players off the pitch, they go to a stadium to rip on the players. if the game gets called off they dont get the opportunity
Stan Drop
That sounds as if UEFA is condoning racism. The captains of all of the teams should make a joint declaration that they will agree with each other to walk off in those circumstances.
tomb
Its raining steadily in Durham
poolynorm
Talking of Yvette any news of umbrellas and covers etc.
tomb
I dont think the players should walk off, that means the idiots will get their way again.
Tristan
we need yvette to leave the us the keys again like she did last night
poolynorm
How about a LMC rave on Satda night.Spread the word but don't let Yvette find out.
chrissafc
uefa have said theu will get booked is another joke
Tristan
i really hope the players do walk off if there is any racial abuse going on. referees instructed to book them if they do, its gonig to be a farce
chrissafc
Uefa what a joke they are
Tristan
uefa say the abusing of the holland players was not racially motivated. apparently it was just ooh and ahh ing, done very quickly to make it sound like monkey chants :/
Tristan
plenty of space under the living quarters to fill up with grub. ive had a hot tub and a pool table fitted in the back
Tristan
we'll come and cheers you on in the bowls, then all head down in the super luxurious lmccc coach
Tristan
iw as encouraged by stephsafc's performance, so i think the bowling is sorted how it is. chrissafc can come in to replace bryn. half price prok sarnies mean s we can buy double the amount as normal so thats good. check the best before date though. dont want us gonig down with a case of the bonettis
poolynorm
Tristy whats the arrangements for Sunday? Are we travelling down on Saturday and stopping at a Travelodge?I've a Bowls match so will need picking up at HQ.Ridgey will provide the music whilst Brando reckons he can get pork sarnies half price after 2.00pm.No drinking on the bus probably means bryn won't be coming. How's the rest of the squad?
tomb
It was an exciting finish at least. I would love just two or three days sitting at the cricket, no rain, just watching the game, bored of retreating to the members lounge this season.
Tristan
tbh the lancs game would have been a different game if not for the rain, no telling how it might have ended otherwise
tomb
And I really need to learn how to type...
tomb
Have we declared yet, bearing in mind there won't be a full days paly, possibly no play. Its so frustrating waiting 6-7 months for the season to start and then to suffer the amount of rain we've had, even though the Lancs game was completed it was ruined by the rain, havent been able to sit out and enjoy the paly much this season due to the cold and rain.
stephsafc
Nah I drove so no bother to me. Had to pick my best mate up though. I didnt see Colly no, but I do know he was there. Apparently he had an xray on his hand and its just bruising. Obviously, that isnt definite.
salmon
Any further news about his hand
tomb
Colly? He was in Austins around 6.30.
Tristan
did you see colly?
tomb
Hope the metro strike didnt cause too much bother
stephsafc
They did a bit of both last night, it was a great night.
tomb
I find the bloke a bit annoying, however I prefer their more recent poppy stuff to yellow, trouble etc.
stephsafc
Correct Tristan, and correct tomb, yeah the support acts were rubbish!! And yeah the piano broke just before paradise ha ha, it only took them about 3 minutes to get it working again. It was amazing Brandonia, the Xylobands were crazy!
via SMS
Brandonia: Interesting that. Stage was in front of the South Stand for KoL last year. Not really a fan of Chris Martin like.
tomb
Heard the support acts were a bit naff, hiding under the covers. I believe a replacement piano was needed?
Tristan
i bet they didnt stop people from standing!
Tristan
there must have been tons of people there? what so the grass was all people, then the south stand, corners, and east & west stand were all people too?
stephsafc
the grass was covered with plastic covers though so that it doesnt ruin the pitch though.
stephsafc
Yes, the stage position differs, but last night it was in the north stand, with a bit coming out of it, and there were people on the grass and in the seats in the rest of the stadium.
Tristan
*sol
Tristan
not been to a gig at the, where do tehy put the stage etc? centre circle with people around or in a corner, im imagining people are on the grass rather than in teh stands?
poolynorm
ancs game.
poolynorm
I've seen plenty of Cold Play in the DCL.Sure Brando has as well.About right Bri just proves you sometimes need a bit of good fortune to help you on the way.Not forgetting the L
BrianT
Looks like 4 draws, all rain affected. We may have lost to Somerset at home, who knows what would have happened at Surrey and we had a chance to win at Lords and today. Maybe 50 points up the spout.
stephsafc
Gig was cracking! No time to sleep! Great night, just suffering now lol.
Tristan
surely you got plenty of sleep during the gig, or was it too loud steph?
Tristan
im jsut munching on a bacon & brown sarnie meself. otherwise i wouldve answered much sooner
stephsafc
Morning everyone. Looks like its going to be a washout today, but we'll see. It will give me a chance to have a nap this rain, as I didn't get in last night till 12.40am from Coldplay. Haway Durham!
Tristan
brandy, i look to the wicket takers over economy bowling. bob is a fine bowler dont get me wrong though
via SMS
Brandonia: Corned beef and brown sauce sandwiches for 10 o'clock folks. If someone cracks a whip I'll be away in a gallop!
poolynorm
Heard Marchy is guest of honour down at the races tomorra.Tristy if it came to the crunch who would you have Brando or Mark Davies.
via SMS
Brandonia: Complaining about my bowling yet I was top wicket taker in ye first innings? Weird. I'll let the results do the talking.
poolynorm
If a protests on the cards then bryn and Ridgey are probably the best bet. They still have the placards and chains from the CT affair.
Tristan
marchy is a fine bowler and i happen to think they dovetail beautifully, we are far from a one man team in the bowling department imo
Tristan
oh aye. i will fully support him. support and encourage is my, rather long winded, middle name!
poolynorm
He tends to get cheap wickets on the back of Marchy.About as lively as one of his packed lunches.Needs to spend more time under the watchful eye of Fenns up at the Riggs.
poolynorm
Brando wasn't impressed with the Umps around 5.00.They waited a short while before play could restart then they reached the top of the steps before it rained again. Then he mentioned Support and Encouragement.Never heard of them.Maybe Ridgey has their CD.
Tristan
do they ever declare to play one innings matches at test level?
Tristan
do they ever declare to play one innings matches at test level?
Stan Drop
Looks like no play will be possible at Edgbaston either. Alternating betwen rain and heavy rain all day! Could be a couple of pointless days play Saturday and Sunday
Tristan
bit harsh on him i think, he scored about 40-50 and took 4 wickets, was your closest competitior for MOM. i thought he bowled topper
Tristan
whats the crack with his banter, think i must have missed that?
poolynorm
Cheers Tristy.Looks like Marchy is going to be chomping at the bit.I suggest fining Brando 2 cricket teas for his banter yesterday.Totally out of line.Bit like his bowling and batting really. Welcome to bigwolls.Have you signed up to the LMCC? What's your CV like?
Tristan
billy doctrove is retiring :(
chrissafc
chuffed for rushy, he's had his tough times but the last 2 games for him have been great for him. 10 wickets is excellent.
Tristan
very happy for chris rushy. more difficult decisions for geoff coming up
chrissafc
rain seems to have killed the game. some good encouraging cricket and hopefully we can push on for our next game after the t20 madness.
Tristan
i suppose seeing as this match will probably end where it is it's not too early to give the man of the match award out; and that goes to departing captain poolynorm for his magnificient century in the first innings
Tristan
were lucky to have such a fearsome attack
Tristan
i think brandy would have had somethign to say about that, not forgetting stephsafc & ridgeley who also both bowled well in this match. its a team effort here at lmccc
marchy22
I would have fancied taking.8 to give me a 10 wicket match
bryn
Any truth in the rumour lmc now stands for live midnight chat??
Tristan
at least!
marchy22
I would have taken a 5fer at least for you tristan but weather isn't going to allow me to
Response to Tristan
It's not far off!
9:12am
ATM
At prsent it's not viable for us to have an ATM installed. NatWest have historically at certain international games installed an ATM but they won't be doing it this year. Be prepared!
9:12am
Tristan
so yvette is it true you fell asleep at the laptop yesterday surrounded by coffee cups and biscuit wrappers?
Tristan
cheers marchy. had you pencilled in for a five fer today :(
marchy22
Draw it is then. Stupid weather spoiling a cracking last days play. Everyone keep well and ill see yous all Sunday
Stan Drop
BTW, looking at the weather map this a.m. I don't fancy the chances of any play at all today.
Stan Drop
Excellent idea Bigwolls, but a bank would have to service it regularly and given that match days are relatively infrequent (taking the year as a whole) it might not be worth their while. Worth enquiring though. NatWest might provide a temporary one at the international matches they sponsor.
bigwolls
Incidentally, not that it affects immediate future but wouldnt it be a good idea for the club to have an operating ATM at the ground - the ability to draw cash there on match days would be of great benefit ??
Day four
Well it's raining here...
8:49am
