Brathwaite
Durhamccc.co.uk spoke to Ruel Brathwaite after he picked up three quick wickets before the close of play, taking his haul on day one to four. He’s after that five-fer tomorrow!
“It was good to come back and take a couple of wickets at the end because they had posted a good total and it was good for us to come back, show a bit of fight and shift the momentum a bit.
“It’s a good cricket wicket so there is a bit of movement, which can help, there aren’t any demons in the wicket, I wouldn’t say it’s batsman friendly but its a good cricket wicket, if you bowl well you get wickets and if you play well you score runs. It’s a bit slow which gives the batsmen time to adjust but you have to be able to work with that.
“It would be great to get five-fer, if I do well, the team does well so it’s always good to be a bit selfish but obviously I want the other bowlers to do well too.
“I’m coming back to full fitness and I couldn’t really have asked for more in my first game back last week, I got seven then and four this game so far. I think competition for places is helpful to be honest, we’ve got a few good, fast bowlers around and you need to be on the ball because the other guys are looking for places.”
