Durham secured victory over Surrey by an innings and 38 runs after they picked up the five required wickets in the first over following the decision to claim the extra half hour just before the scheduled lunch break.
Graham Onions, Callum Thorp and Chris Rushworth each claimed a wicket with Scott Borthwick claiming the last two scalps.
The win sees Durham take 22 points from the game, moving to sixth place in the division one table.
At the close of play Head Coach Geoff Cook said, “We’ve had two positive results in the Championship and the signs were good before that. We’ve got to get at least two more wins in four games to get ourselves into a safe position, which is the short term aim for the season. It’s good to see the team playing in a much more confident way and enjoying each others success.
