Phil Mustard scores 143
A personal one day best of 143 from Phil Mustard propelled Durham to a superb 298 in their Clydesdale Bank 40 fixture and after an excellent performance in the field, a 141 run win against Surrey.
The top three set the Dynamos up almost effortlessly with Mark Stoneman contributing fifty and Ben Stokes adding 45.
As the Dynamos looked to push on in the final stages of the innings five wickets fell for just 27 runs but by that point the home side already had a significant enough total on the board to cause the visitors trouble.
Surrey were 10-1 in the second over with Rory Hamilton-Brown caught by Gordon Muchall for 8. They lost a second wicket the following over without adding to the total with Steven Davies caught by Dale Benkenstein off Chris Rushworth for 1.
The visitors built some momentum reaching 78 before Gary Wilson (27) was given out, stumped by Mustard off Rushworth, after a long wait for a decision from the third umpire.
Mark Wood claimed three successive wickets, those of Jason Roy (43) and Zander de Bruyn (1), who were both caught behind, and Matthew Spriegel who was bowled for 7 leaving Surrey 93-6.
Gareth Batty added 16 before he was caught by Stokes off Gareth Breese in the 25th over. Surrey were 144-9 when he struck twice in his following over with Jon Lewis (5) bowled and Rory Burns stumped on 32.
Scott Borthwick claimed the final wicket, with Jade Dernbach caught at long on by Wood on 10.
