Durham LV=CC 2011

Durham lost the toss and were asked to field first in their LV= County Championship fixture against Warwickshire.   The visitors had picked up three bonus points before the close, but a flurry of wickets for Ruel Brathwaite in the closing overs saw them reduced to 345 - 7 by the close.

Callum Thorp made the first breakthrough, in the 21st over, with Westwood caught behind on 46 and the Warwickshire total at 71.  Ruel Brathwaite struck in the following over with Ben Stokes catching Chopra at mid wicket for 23 leaving Warwickshire 73-2. 

At lunch the visitors were 103- with Yousuf and Porterfield at the crease.  

A slow ball from Graham Onions in the 33rd over saw Mohammed Yousuf (25) caught behind and returning 

An expensive five overs for 50 runs from Ben Stokes helped the Warwickshire total escalate and by the 55th over they were 205-3.

With 28 overs remaining Troughton passed the fifty mark, off 108 balls with Warwickshire 243-3.
Scott Borthwick struck in his third over, trapping Porterfield (87) lbw, after he has been dropped on 25, and bringing the 131 partnership to an end.

Troughton and Clarke put on a swift fifty partnership and saw the visitors past the 300 mark with 10 overs of the day remaining. 

Brathwaite picked up two wickets in two balls in the 91st over, claiming Durham’s second bonus point, with Clarke caught by Muchall in the slips on 49 and his replacement, Ambrose caught behind first ball.

He claimed his fourth wicket of the innings in the penultimate over of the day when Troughton was caught behind on 76.

At the close Warwickshire were 345-7, Best 0* and Woakes 16*.
