Phil Mustard t20 2012
Durham star Phil Mustard is looking to get that t20 edge ahead of the new season as he has travelled to New Zealand to represent the Auckland Aces in the HRV Cup.
Phil will be playing as an overseas player for the Aces, who won the Cup in 2012 and qualified for this years Champions League twenty20. The Aces boast a strong t20 line-up with current Black Cap internationals Martin Guptill, Chris Martin and Kyle Mills.
2012 was a tremendous year for Phil in limited overs cricket, especially in CB40 where he averaged 47.5 with the bat and notched up three centuries, with the slowest taking only 74 balls.
Though Phil is heading around the world to focus on his t20 skills and will play for the Aces in New Zealand’s domestic t20 competition, the HRV Cup. He is hoping that experience of playing high quality t20 over the winter will give him the edge ahead of a massive season for Durham Dynamos. This is not the first time Phil has played t20 abroad after enjoying successful stints in Zimbabwe and in the Bangladesh Premier League in the 2011/12 winter.
The HRV Cup is already underway. One Durham player has already made an appearance in this years competition with Durham Fast-Bowler Mitchell Claydon representing the Canterbury Wizards.
Both players will be back in Durham ahead of the new season with some excellent t20 practice under the belt, as the Dynamos will be looking to win their first Friends Life t20.
