Graham Onions Signs New Contract With Durham
Graham Onions has signed a new two year contract extension with Durham CCC. The fast bowler, last season's leading wicket taker in English county cricket, has committed himself to the county champions until the end of the 2017 season.
The 31 year old, who made his first class debut for Durham in 2004, has been in sparkling form during recent times. Over the last two Championship seasons, Onions has claimed a staggering 134 victims, averaging over five wickets per match. After recovering from a foot problem, the England International is now preparing to spearhead the Durham attack for many seasons to come.
Onions said "I am obviously delighted to have signed for another two years at Durham. Last season was magnificent, and to play a part in such an amazing team effort is something that will stay with me for a long time. I still get an enormous sense of pride playing for my local county and with the crop of young players coming through, I'm confident we can have lots of success in the future. These are exciting times at Durham, and it's great to be a part of it all"
Head Coach Jon Lewis added "Graham's contribution to the success of Durham Cricket cannot be underestimated. His bowling record speaks for itself, but he is also a key figure in the dressing room and the example he sets the younger bowlers in particular is invaluable. To have someone of Graham's stature in our squad for the next few seasons will be a massive asset"
