Rain Means Draw for Second XI

Keaton Jennings was impressive with the bat for the Second XI

Rain has washed away our Second XI team’s hopes of victory after being in the box seat in their match against Nottinghamshire.

After winning the toss Durham went in to bat, putting together a large total courtesy of some superb batting from Keaton Jennings and Michael Richardson.
Jennings made 125 whilst Richardson 122 no and Usman Arshad 52 no pushed Durham to 378-3 where they declared after a good day batting.
Rain delayed the start of play on Day 2 but once underway Nottingham made up for the lost time, racing away to be 145-1 at lunch with Ruel Brathwaite the sole wicket taker for Durham.
Durham were lacking a bit of discipline in the field and with the ball but their form turned around after the break with Bousefield taking two wickets.
Another three wickets after lunch for Durham got them back in the game after Callum Prosser took two in an over and Morely claimed the other. Durham had Nottingham six wickets down and the visitor’s comeback continued when Notts lost 4-31 to be all out at tea for 244.
Morely finished with 3 wickets, 2 for Prosser and Bousefield and 1 for Brathwaite.
Holding a first innings lead of 134, Durham batted out the day until bad light and rain ended play early with Durham 69-1 with Singh out for 44.
Durham didn’t have the best start to the final day after losing Weighell, Richardson and Arshad but Keaton Jennings ensured the home side would have  a solid chase as he continued his first innings form to make 94no before Durham declared 173-7 setting Nottingham 308 to win off a minimum of 68 overs.
Rain affected the rest of the days play with players on and off the field due to persistent showers.
Durham had Nottingham 92-5 and looked the going looked tough for Nottingham before a heavy shower saved the home side and the match ended in a draw.
