Durham 2nd XI beat Warwickshire 2nd XI in two T20 games to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Home captain Gordon Muchall won the toss and opted to chase in both matches at Benwell Hill, with the first game delayed and then reduced to 15 overs per side due to rain.

Usman Arshad bowled Jonathon Webb in the fourth over and after another rain interruption, the visitors stuttered to 102 for the loss of four wickets.

Durham were set a revised target of 108 and secured a thumping win with 32 balls to spare thanks to a stunning innings from Graham Clark.

The Cumbria-born star reached his half-century from only 20 deliveries and finished unbeaten on a chanceless 85.

Clark hit seven fours and seven sixes, the last of which was hit over deep midwicket to seal the win, with the ball thumping into a parked car. No other batsman reached double figures.

In the second match, Warwickshire posted 152 from their twenty overs, with 19-year-old Dylan Budge collecting 3-20 in four overs.

When dangerman Clark was bowled second ball, the Midlands outfit perhaps sniffed a victory.

But Muchall stroked eight boundaries in a 44-ball 62 and combined with Budge (38*) to put on 73 for the fifth wicket.

The pair reached their victory target with three balls to spare and Alastair Maiden’s side have now won six and drawn one of their seven competitive games this summer.

Durham and Warwickshire next face each other in a three-day championship match, starting on Tuesday at Emirates Durham ICG (11am start, free entry)
