Over recent weeks former Durham fast bowler and current Academy Bowling Coach Neil Killeen has been scouring the North-East to unearth a new breed of fast bowling talent
Unfortunately due to the adverse weather, the event at Annfield Plain CC on Saturday 16th June has been postponed.
This session will be re-arranged sometime over the next two weeks, keep your eye on the Durham CCC website or contact Neil Killeen on the below details to make sure you don’t miss out to show your bowling pace.
The Postponed Ashington Speedstar due to take place on Saturday 9th June will now take place on Saturday 7th July at Ashington Cricket Club.
The open Fast Bowling Roadshow supported by Sanctus Energy Procurement, is taking place at six clubs across the region, many young bowlers have been seeing if they have what it takes to become the next Graham Onions.
With open entry for u15, u17, u19 and u23 fast bowlers have been encouraged to show if they have the pace. All bowlers will be given an over to show their quickest ball.
The fastest bowlers (fastest bowler determined by the fastest individual ball bowled) along with one wildcard from each age group in each heat will be taking part in the final on the Emirates Durham ICG pitch ahead of Durham Dynamos final home t20 group game with Lancashire Lightning.
The fastest ball so far was bowled in the under 19 category at the Sunderland CC challenge as the speedgun topped out at an impressive 77mph.
On finals day the winners of the challenge for each age will be awarded a SPEEDSTAR trophy along with a Durham CCC membership for 2013 and offered the opportunity to train alongside Durham's Academy throughout the winter.
