DCCC and The Galleries team together for Sports Relief

On Friday 21st March Durham Country Cricket Club and The Galleries Shopping Centre Washington will be teaming together to raise money for Sport Relief.

The event which will take place in the Galleries Shopping Centre between 9am -5pm in Wessington Square will be an abundance of activity aimed at all ages and abilities.

Customers will have the special opportunity to have their picture taken with the LV= County Championship Trophy. Durham County Cricket Club’s third County Championship title in six seasons, after beating Nottinghamshire by eight wickets at Emirates Durham ICG last September.  

Little and big shoppers alike will be able to pose for a photograph with Chester the Lion the club’s mascot between 12pm - 2pm as well as having their hand at batting with one of Durham County Cricket Community Coaches who will be on site throughout the day to offer some hints and tips.

Galleries Shopping Centre staff will also be ditching the work wear attire for the day and going sporty in aid of the charitable cause. There will be cakes and pastries on sale from the Galleries Customer Service Desk, which will be dressed head to toe in Sports Relief balloons and bunting.

Jennifer Beavis, Marketing Executive for the Galleries Shopping Centre said, ‘This is such a brilliant opportunity to work with Durham County Cricket Club, not only to promote cricket in the local community but to raise money for Sports Relief, while having some fun in the process.’
