Sri Lanka Return To Durham This Sunday

Sri Lanka Return To Durham This Sunday

Sri Lanka thrashed England by 157 runs at Emirates Durham ICG in May

The Emirates Durham ICG will host some of Sri Lanka's finest cricketing talent for the second time this season when Sri Lanka A take on Durham this Sunday (10.30am start)

The Sri Lanka A squad are currently touring the UK and are using this match as a warm-up for the upcoming triangular tournament where they will face England Lions and New Zealand A.

When the full Sri Lanka side visited the north east in May, Angelo Matthews' men thrashed England by 157 runs and there are likely to be some full internationals on show again this weekend.

Durham Head Coach Jon Lewis has named a strong 12-man squad for the 50 over match in preparation for the Royal London One Day Cup, which begins a week later in Taunton.

Wicketkeeper Stuart Poynter is set for his first team debut after a series of consistent performances for the 2nd XI. Poynter will then play for his country, Ireland, against Sri Lanka A next week.

Graham Onions returned to the side for the LV=County Championship game against Warwickshire and the England International retains his place in the squad for Sunday.

Limited-overs captain Mark Stoneman will lead the side, with Paul Collingwood, John Hastings and Phil Mustard set to be rested.

Entry is FREE. Gates open at 8.30am.
