Durham First Class Debut - April 2016 vs Durham MCCU (H)

Brydon Carse’s work in the Academy setup caught the eye of many people and head coach Jon Lewis accelerated him towards first team action from the beginning of 2016.

After an impressive debut in the pre-season match with Durham MCCU, Carse was thrust into Championship action in the opener with Somerset and made an instant impact, taking his maiden first-class wickets in a spell of 2-13.

The eye-catching wicket of Sam Robson in the next game, when he removed the ex-England opener's off stump, confirmed that the club have another exceptional fast bowler in the ranks.

But for injuries in mid-season, Carse would certainly have extended upon his haul of 17 wickets from eight matches and he returned for the final two matches of the season.

A pace bowler who is only likely to quicken over the coming seasons, the 21-year-old has also shown his worth with the bat and already has a first-class best of 47 against Nottinghamshire, batting virtually on one foot after picking up an injury in the same match.
