Date of birth - 11 July 1986 Sunderland, County Durham
Durham First Class Debut - April 2010 v Yorkshire (away)

A scintillating display of bowling against Northamptonshire created global headlines in September of last year.

With the visitors on 33 without loss, Chris Rushworth ran in to bowl the final ball of his fifth over. After being hit for consecutive boundaries, the Sunderland-born seamer got his revenge by having James Middlebrook caught at slip. 42 balls later, Rushworth walked off the ground with startling figures of 9-52, the best analysis in the country during 2014.

He collected six more victims in the second innings to finish with 15-95, which eclipsed Alan Walker's Durham record for the best figures in a championship match, a record which had stood for nearly 20 years.

Rushworth passed 50 championship wickets for the season during the game and eventually finished on a highly respectable tally of 64.

A superb display in the final of the Royal London One-Day Cup saw him end the campaign as Durham's leading wicket-taker in first class and List A cricket.

Released by Durham in 2006, Rushworth fought his way back into the first class game and eventually made his debut four years later.

He has been a model of consistency ever since and was deservedly crowned as last season's joint bowler of the year.
