Durham County Cricket Foundation

Since its launch in the summer of 2009, Durham County Cricket Foundation has had an immeasurable impact on thousands of people in the region as it aims to provide inspiration, motivation and raised self-esteem to our local community using the power of sport.

The Foundations programmes are divided into five pillars of activity; Education, Grassroots Sport, Health, Club Development and Social Cohesion. These projects are not just undertaken in Durham, but right across the region, including Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Cleveland and Cumbria.

Durham County Cricket Foundation can add so much to these programmes and make them unique experiences for all involved by using the resources Durham CCC has to offer with an international sporting facility, the unique match-day experience and the opportunity to meet professional cricketers who are excellent role models for the young people.

In its first full year of operation the Foundation interacted with almost 10,000 people. Nearly 150 schools and over 50 cricket clubs have benefited from the valuable work Foundation staff do in the community. Durham CCC players have also played their part in the Foundations work, as they have collectively made 112 visits to programme participants in the last year.

The Foundation would also like to take the opportunity to thank main community partner The Esh Charitable Trust and community partners Tesco and Northumbrian Water who without their valuable support we could not make the impact on all those people in the community.
