EDUCATION

tv production

As one of the principle pillars of the Foundation, Durham County Cricket Foundations education programme, supported by the Esh Charitable Trust, is already in progress and in 2009 over 1000 people have participated in education activities in the Riversides education centre.

The principle education scheme is the Outreach Programme, where Durham County Cricket Foundation goes into twenty four schools per year, working with nearly 1,500 children, who participate in literacy and numeracy exercises integrated into ICT, media and cricket based learning. All participants then visit the Riverside to complete their work and film their own Sky Sports introduction in the studio. All attendants will then be invited to attend one of Durhams Friends Provident Twenty20 matches and see their work on the big screen

The main education programme based at Riverside is the Playing for Success scheme. This is a ten week programme to participate in cricket based education activities and coaching. Attendants have had the opportunity to have a tour of the ground, meet and interview Durham players and film their own report in the studio, which is shown on the big screen at Durham games, where participants are invited as a Celebration evening.
There are many other educational activities at the Riverside including creative writing, poetry days, careers activities and adult learning programmes. Click here for more information on the Playing for Success Programme.

Thanks to the valuable support form the Esh Charitable Trust Durham County Cricket Foundation education programme aim to have contact with many more people in the region working with 300 schools and deliver over 1,200 hours of education activity.
