Much to his frustration, a stress fracture of the shin meant Jamie Harrison had to wait until late August to make his first appearance of 2013, but the left arm seamer made an immediate impact on his return to action.
A career best 5-31 helped to bowl Surrey out for just 103 as Durham romped to victory by an innings and 144 runs. That win moved the team up to second in the table, and they would later overtake Yorkshire to secure the LV=County Championship title.
Harrison contributed 14 valuable wickets in the four first class matches he played last season, but will hope for better luck with injuries in 2014.
An attacking cricketer who bowls at brisk pace, Harrison also has the potential to be a very useful lower order batsmen.
Born in Merseyside, the former Sedbergh School pupil is a big rugby league fan who supports St. Helens.
