The Riverside is recognised for its ability to hold world class cricket events, and is firmly on its way to becoming an established music and cultural venue. In 2006, over 16,000 music fans poured into the Riverside in June to enjoy a spectacular performance from superstar Elton John, other performers to appear at the Riverside include operatic star Lesley Garrett, jazz sensation Jamie Cullum, reggae band UB40, James Morrison and Sugababes.
