Date of birth - 17 April 1992 Sunderland, County Durham
Durham First Class Debut - May 2014 v Somerset (away)

With Scott Borthwick having departed the club for pastures new, 2017 is a big opportunity for Ryan Pringle to prove his worth as the leading spinner in Jon Lewis’ side.

And while the previous season yielded disappointing results in the bowling department, with 19 wickets across ten Championship matches, the final match of the season at Hampshire showed just what Pringle is capable of.

The off-break bowler spun his way to a maiden ten-wicket haul with second innings figures of 7-107, the best by a Durham bowler all season.

Bowling may take precedence this season but Pringle is an explosive batsman and he smashed a maiden List A century in the defeat at Derbyshire.

With his side struggling badly on 58-6, Pringle launched an astonishing one-man assault to make 125 out of Durham’s total of 216, including a tenth-wicket partnership of 62 in which Chris Rushworth made just three.

The all-rounder was born the day after Durham’s maiden first-class fixture finished in 1992 and made his first-class debut in 2014, the same year in which he graduated with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science.
