Travel Arrangements

Durham CCC would like to remind spectators that international match days at Riverside are extremely busy and you should allow plenty of time to get to the stadium.  There are various ways to travel to the ground - the information detailed below should help you plan your journey.  Details of near site parking and park and ride will be available nearer the match.

You can reach DCCC by any of these methods:

By Walking

If you live locally or are arriving at Chester le Street Market Place (10-15 minute walk) or the Railway Station (15 – 20 minute walk) you could walk to DCCC.

There is a pedestrian route which avoids busy roads:

• From Chester le Street Market Place – pass Park View School to Roman Avenue, use the foot bridge over the A167 then through Riverside Park to DCCC
• From DCCC - through Riverside Park using the footbridge to reach Roman Avenue, then past Park View School to the Market Place / Rail Stations.

By Bus

There is an extensive local bus network operating to and from Chester le Street (route north / south from Newcastle to several destinations (e.g. Durham, Bishop Auckland), and east / west (e.g. Sunderland, Consett)).

The nearest Chester le Street has to a Bus Station is the Market Place where the bus stops have real time information (10 - 15 minute walk to DCCC).  However, the Market Place is not the nearest bus stop to DCCC.  The closest stops to DCCC are two stops further south of the Market Place – at the Black Horse (for buses in both directions, north and south, a 5 - 10 minute walk to DCCC).

Buses to Chester le Street Market Place (or the “Black Horse” bus stops)

• 21/22 are the fastest, most direct and most frequent services from Newcastle and Durham to Chester le Street, both branded as “The Angel” in a distinctive pink livery.

Buses from Chester le Street Market Place Direct to DCCC

DCCC will be operating a regular shuttle bus service from Durham Railway station.

On 20 August the TransPennine 2127 from Newcastle will stop in Chester le Street in addition to usual services.
