It was an over Arshdeep Singh would want to forget in a hurry. The Punjab Kings pacer had a nightmare final over against Gujarat Titans at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh, sending down 11 deliveries instead of the usual six.

Four wides and a no ball turned what should have been a straightforward death over into a chaotic sequence that left fans stunned and his captain shaking his head. The saving grace for Arshdeep was that he somehow restricted the damage to just 12 runs as GT finished at 162 for 6.

Everything that could go wrong did go wrong for the left arm quick. He opened with a bouncer that sailed too high and was called wide. Rahul Tewatia then punished a length ball for four off the third legal delivery.

Arshdeep tried going short again but overstepped, earning a no ball. Two more wides followed as he desperately tried to keep the ball away from the hitting zone. Even the final ball of the over was called wide before he eventually closed it out with a dot.

For a bowler of Arshdeep’s calibre who has delivered under pressure for India in major ICC events, this was an uncharacteristic meltdown. Yet cricket has a funny way of balancing things out. Despite all the extras, GT added only 12 runs off those 11 balls.

PBKS Bowling Fightback Sets Up the Contest

The bigger picture tells a more positive story for Punjab Kings. GT looked set for a massive total at 119 for 2 in the 14th over. However, PBKS bowlers pulled off a remarkable fightback, choking the run flow and picking up four wickets in the death overs. GT managed just 31 runs in 37 balls between overs 14 and 19.

Shubman Gill top-scored with 39 off 27 balls and Jos Buttler added 38 off 33 deliveries. But neither could convert their starts into match-defining knocks. The GT middle order crumbled under pressure, leaving the Titans with a below par 162 on a surface that offered plenty for the batters.

Arshdeep will look to put this over behind him quickly. The best bowlers always have short memories and the India international has proven time and again that one bad day does not define him.
