Chennai Super Kings have suffered a setback in IPL 2026 with left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed ruled out of the tournament due to injury. The development comes at a time when CSK had started building momentum, forcing the team to look at backup options for the remainder of the season.
Khaleel Ahmed Ruled Out Due to Quadriceps Injury
Khaleel Ahmed sustained a right quadriceps injury during CSK’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 14. The injury has been serious enough to rule him out of the rest of IPL 2026.

His absence leaves a gap in CSK’s pace attack, especially as he played a key role in the bowling unit. Losing a left-arm pacer at this stage could impact team balance, particularly in powerplay overs.
Madhwal, Sakariya and Simarjeet in Replacement Race
CSK are expected to consider Indian pacers with IPL experience as potential replacements. Akash Madhwal is one of the leading options. He has previously impressed with Mumbai Indians and has taken 23 wickets in 17 IPL matches, including a five-wicket haul.
Chetan Sakariya is another name in contention. The left-arm pacer has experience across multiple franchises and has picked up 20 wickets in 20 IPL matches. Despite recent injury concerns, his skill set could suit CSK’s requirements.
Simarjeet Singh, who has been part of the CSK setup earlier, is also in the mix. He has taken 11 wickets in 14 IPL matches and brings familiarity with the team environment. His recent domestic performances further strengthen his case.
With limited time available, CSK are likely to make a quick decision as they aim to maintain balance in their squad for the remaining matches of IPL 2026.
