Quinton de Kock smashed an unbeaten 112 off 60 balls on his season debut but it wasn’t enough as Punjab Kings chased down 196 with 21 balls to spare at the Wankhede. Arshdeep Singh struck twice in consecutive deliveries to remove Rickelton and Suryakumar in the powerplay before finishing with 3/22.

Prabhsimran Singh scored 80 off 39 and Shreyas Iyer blasted 66 off 35 as their 139 run stand crushed MI’s hopes. Bumrah went wicketless for the fifth consecutive match. PBKS remain unbeaten after five games while MI slumped to their fourth straight defeat.

Arshdeep swung the new ball beautifully, conceding just one run in the first over. De Kock smashed a six off Jansen to get off the mark and rebuilt with Naman Dhir after two early wickets.

Their 122 run stand steadied MI. Dhir scored 50 off 31 before Shashank Singh broke the partnership. De Kock reached his century with a reverse lap off Bartlett and carried his bat through with 112 off 60.

MI managed only 50 in the last five overs as Jansen and Arshdeep bowled excellent yorkers at the death. Rutherford was bowled by Arshdeep for 1 off five consecutive yorkers.

Deepak Chahar leaked 21 runs in the first over. Ghazanfar removed Arya and Connolly to give MI hope but Prabhsimran and Shreyas took the game away completely.

Prabhsimran smashed a six and four off Chahar in the eighth over and reached his fifty off a pull shot. Shreyas hit a six off Bumrah into the crowd at deep mid wicket and another into the third tier off Shardul.

Their 139 run partnership is the fourth highest in PBKS history. Shreyas fell for 66 to a diving catch by Dhir but Stoinis finished it with back to back fours off Chahar.
