Why BCCI Needs Two T20 Teams in 2026
The BCCI has been forced to rethink its T20 planning due to overlapping international commitments. Consequently, the Asian Games and the India vs West Indies T20 series will be played in the same window later this year.
A board official confirmed that a larger pool of 30 to 35 cricketers is essential to run both assignments in parallel.
Furthermore, the Ireland tour will follow the traditional UK template by carrying an extended squad beyond the first eleven. India are also scheduled to face Afghanistan in a three match T20 series in September, although the dates remain unconfirmed.
