Written By: Ben Crawley

Pakistan delivered a clinical performance to defeat the United States by 32 runs in their second Group A encounter of the T20 World Cup 2026 at Colombo’s Sinhalese Sports Club.

After winning the toss, USA opted to field but were punished by Sahibzada Farhan’s explosive 73 off 41 balls as Pakistan posted a challenging 190/9.

The USA openers started positively, racing to 50 in the powerplay, but Pakistan’s spin quartet led by Usman Tariq (3/27) and Shadab Khan (2/26), applied the brakes in the middle overs.

Despite Shubham Ranjane’s fighting fifty and Shayan Jahangir’s 49, USA fell short at 158/8, giving Pakistan their second consecutive victory.

First Innings Highlights

Pakistan’s openers came out swinging, reaching 54 in five overs before Shadley van Schalkwyk struck twice in the sixth over, dismissing Saim Ayub (19) and captain Salman Agha (1).

Sahibzada Farhan dominated proceedings with a blistering knock, hitting five sixes and six fours to race to his fifty in just 27 balls. He shared a crucial 81-run partnership with Babar Azam (46 off 32), who provided steady support.

After Farhan’s dismissal for 73 in the 16th over, Shadab Khan provided late fireworks with a rapid 30 off 12 balls, including four boundaries and a six. Van Schalkwyk was exceptional for USA, claiming 4/25 to restrict Pakistan, but the total of 190/9 proved daunting.
