Written By: Ben Crawley

India defeated Netherlands by 17 runs at Ahmedabad to complete an unbeaten group stage. Shivam Dube’s explosive 66 off 31 balls rescued India from 69/3 after Aryan Dutt dismissed Abhishek Sharma on the first ball.

The left-hander smashed six sixes in his maiden T20 World Cup fifty. Hardik Pandya added 30 off 21 as India posted 193/6. Dutt’s exceptional 4-0-19-2 strangled India’s top order early. Netherlands stayed competitive through Bas de Leede’s 33 and Colin Ackermann’s aggressive 23.

Varun Chakaravarthy then struck twice in two balls to dismiss Ackermann and Aryan Dutt. Despite late fireworks from Noah Croes (25*) and Zach Lion-Cachet (26), Netherlands finished 17 runs short.

First Innings Highlights

Aryan Dutt struck with the very first over, bowling Abhishek Sharma for a third consecutive duck. Abhishek remained scoreless in the tournament. Ishan Kishan blazed 18 off 7 before departing unluckily.

The ball deflected off his pad and elbow onto the stumps. Tilak Varma (31) and Suryakumar Yadav (34) rebuilt against Dutt’s miserly off-spin. Both fell attempting to accelerate the scoring. Enter Shivam Dube. The left-hander smashed Colin Ackermann for consecutive sixes in the 13th over.

He brutalized Logan van Beek with another maximum before reaching fifty off just 25 balls. Hardik Pandya joined the assault with three sixes. The pair added an unbroken 78-run stand for the fifth wicket. Dube finished with 66 off 31 balls, including four fours and six sixes. Rinku Singh’s cameo (6 off 3) in the final over helped India post 193/6.
