The Australian cricket team will tour South Africa in 2026 for the most-awaited multi-format series. The tour will feature a three-match ODI series, followed by three Test matches from late September to October.

It brings together the last two World Test Championship winners, Australia and South Africa. This will also be Australia’s first Test series in South Africa since the 2018 ball-tampering incident at Newlands, making the contest even more exciting and emotional for fans.

This tour is crucial for the Proteas men’s team as they will defend their ICC World Test Championship title. They have a packed home season ahead, during which they will face strong teams such as Australia, Bangladesh, and England.

Australia Returns to South Africa After 8 Years

Australia will return to South Africa for a Test series later this year, marking their first red-ball tour there since the 2018 Cape Town controversy. During that series, Australian players were involved in a ball-tampering incident when Cameron Bancroft was caught using sandpaper to alter the ball. The scandal led to bans for Steve Smith, David Warner, and Bancroft, and it shocked the cricket world.

Although Australia visited South Africa for limited-overs matches in 2020 and 2023, they have not played a Test series there since 2018. A planned three-Test tour in 2021 was called off because of COVID-19 restrictions and safety concerns.
