English all-rounder Chris Woakes announced his retirement from international cricket on Monday. He was part of the England Test team that faced India in 2025. He was a part of the English team that won the ODI World Cup in 2019 and the T20 World Cup in 2022.

Chris Woakes is known for his precise seam bowling and has consistently made significant contributions to the England cricket team over the years. The 36-year-old debuted for the national team in 2011 in a Twenty20 International (T20I) match against Australia. That same year, he also made his ODI debut.

After a strong start in the white-ball formats, Woakes played his first Test match in 2013 during the Ashes series. He went on to play 62 games before retiring.

“The moment has come, and I have decided that the time is right for me to retire from international cricket. Playing for England was something I aspired to do since I was a kid dreaming in the back garden.”

Woakes expressed his feelings about representing his country in international cricket.

“Representing England, wearing the Three Lions, and sharing the field with teammates over the last 15 years—many of whom have become lifelong friends—are things I will look back on with the greatest pride.”

However, Woakes will continue to play county cricket and explore more franchise opportunities in the future.
