This is the place for ALL the information you need regarding the Royal London One-Day International between England & Australia at Emirates Riverside!

The fixture on Thursday, 21 June sold out months in advance & is the fourth of five matches in the series, with the final match being played at Emirates Old Trafford.

Timings & Tickets

12:00pm: Gates open

2:00pm – 5:30pm: First innings

6:15pm – 9:45pm: Second innings

General ground admission tickets are through Gates 2, 3, 4 & 5. Hospitality entry is through Gate 1 only.

Travelling to the game

By Car

Parking is available at the ground & must be purchased in advance from the Box Office. Only yellow parking remains & these passes are available to buy by calling 0844 499 4466 or by booking online until 4pm on Monday, 18 June. Any remaining spaces will be available to purchase in person from the Box Office until midday on Wednesday.

Alternatively, a Park & Ride services will be running from Lambton Estates (DH3 4PQ, approx. 4 miles from the ground) on the day of the game. This services costs £2 per return journey & is payable on the day.

The Park & Ride car park will open at 11:00am & buses will run to the ground until 2:30pm. The return services will resume 30 minutes before the close of play, or at the abandonment of the match (fingers crossed this doesn’t come into play!).

By Train

Chester-le-Street train station is the closest rail station to Emirates Riverside & is approximately 20 minutes away on foot. Alternatively, Go North East bus numbers 36 & 78 run from Front Street, a couple of minutes’ walk from the train station, to the ground.

A shuttle bus service will operate from Durham train station. This will run to the ground between 11:00am & 2:30pm, with the return journey commencing 30 minutes before the close of play or at the abandonment of the match (again, we hope it doesn’t come down to this!). This service is £2 per journey, so £4 for a return journey.

If you are using trains to travel to Emirates Riverside, we advise planning your return journey in advance due to the scheduled late finish of the match & strike action by Northern Rail.

By Bus

Go North East run a number of bus services to Chester-le-Street including the 36 & 78 from Sunderland, 21 ‘Angel’ from Newcastle/Gateshead & X21 ‘Castles Express’ from Bishop Auckland/Durham.

Getting dropped off?

There is a designated drop off & pick up point located in the Riverside Park car park. The ground can be accessed via the underpass beneath the main road & takes less than 5 minutes.

Can we bring food & drink into the ground?

Spectators are welcome to bring food into the ground & some drinks – there are some limitations on the latter.

No alcohol, cans & glass bottles can be brought in. The Club can unfortunately not keep hold of confiscated items.

Full bag searches will be in operation at the gates for your safety.

Where can I purchase food & drink inside the ground?

There are four main bars in operation on the day located on the square next to Bannatyne’s Gym, behind the Newcastle Airport stand, underneath the County Durham stand & also in Austin’s.

In addition there are units from Eden Mill, Hardy’s, Fentiman’s & Pimms to buy their respective products.

There are also a number of catering vans on site offering a wide variety of food, with vegetarian & gluten free options available.

The catering teams will be more than happy to answers any questions regarding dietary requirements!

Why do I pay an extra £1 for a cup at the bar?

All of our bars operate a refundable £1 charge on each cup at the bar. Once returned to any bar at the end of the match, you will receive this back. Alternatively, you’re welcome to keep it as a souvenir from your visit to Emirates Riverside.

The system is in place as part of our efforts to reduce the amount of plastic wastage & become more environmentally friendly.

Anything else happening before the match & while the cricket is on?

Yes – loads!

The Liontrust Fan Zone will be in operation in the Paul Collingwood Pavilion car park, showcasing some of the activities & games available to fans during the Durham Jets’ upcoming Vitality Blast fixtures.

In the space outside the back of the Don Robson Pavilion, One-Day International title sponsors Royal London will be here with an interactive video booth & handing out giveaways – & their truly unmissable mascot Gilbert will be roaming around the concourse.

Joining them are NatWest’s VR unit to test your cricketing skills in the world of virtual reality & new for this season is their facial recognition activity to see which players you look most like from the world of cricket. Rubicon’s photo booth is also in operation in that area.

In summary – lots going on… & that’s before you get to the main event.

Are facilities available for Durham CCC members?

As with internationals in previous years, Durham CCC members can take advantage of members facilities in the Indoor School located behind the Media Centre.

A range of sandwiches & drinks will be sold & members can also purchase beer tokens to be used at the bars inside the ground. These tokens can be exchanged at the four main bars only as listed above.

Don’t forget your valid 2018 membership card – you’ll need it to show at the door in order to get in.

Cash machines: Are there any on site?

An ATM unit with four machines will be located on Bannatynes square, the same location as the bar. The charge per transaction on these machines is £1.75.

Card payment is accepted at Austin’s & in the bar underneath the County Durham stand.
