Fakhar Zaman has been handed a two-match ban in the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2026 after being found guilty of ball tampering during a recent match.
The decision was confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board on March 31 following a detailed review and disciplinary hearing.
Incident During Lahore vs Karachi Match
The incident took place during the clash between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings at Gaddafi Stadium on March 29.
Umpire Faisal Afridi raised concerns late in the match and asked for the ball to be inspected. After discussions among the officials, Lahore Qalandars were penalised five runs and the ball was replaced.

This decision had a direct impact on the game. The target equation was reduced, and Karachi Kings went on to chase down the revised total successfully in the final over.
Fakhar Denied Charge, Hearing Followed
Fakhar Zaman denied any wrongdoing and chose to contest the charge. This led to a full hearing conducted by match referee Roshan Mahanama.
After reviewing the evidence and hearing all submissions, the referee concluded that Fakhar had committed a Level 3 offence under the PSL Code of Conduct. The charge falls under Article 2.14, which relates to altering the condition of the ball.
Senior team members, including captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, team director Sameen Rana, and manager Farooq Anwar were present during the proceedings.
Two-Match Ban Confirmed
A Level 3 offence carries a penalty ranging from a one-match ban to a maximum of two matches. Fakhar has been given the maximum punishment.
He will miss Lahore Qalandars’ upcoming matches against Multan Sultans and Islamabad United.
Option to Appeal Still Open
Under PSL rules, Fakhar Zaman has the right to appeal the decision within 48 hours of receiving the official verdict.
For now, Lahore Qalandars will have to move forward without one of their key batters as the tournament continues.
