The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup has completed seven exciting seasons, and the record for the fastest century in the tournament was set during the 2026 edition. 

Several players have reached centuries at an amazing speed, but Finn Allen’s 33-ball century is the fastest in this list. He scored a 33-ball century against South Africa to help his team to qualify for the final of the 2026 edition.  Chris Gayle is in 2nd and 3rd place with centuries in 47 and 50 balls respectively.

1. Finn Allen: 33 Balls vs South Africa

Finn Allen played a stunning innings for the New Zealand national cricket team during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. He attacked the bowlers from the start and hit powerful shots all around the ground. Allen smashed 8 sixes and 10 fours and reached his century in just 33 balls, making it the fastest hundred in Men’s T20 World Cup history.

He brought up his first fifty in only 19 balls, the fastest by any batter in the T20 World Cup, and continued scoring quickly to reach his hundred. Out of the 33 balls he faced, 18 went to the boundary. His strike rate was an incredible 303 during the innings.

While chasing a target of 170 runs, New Zealand quickly reached 173/1 in 12.5 overs. They won the match by nine wickets with 43 balls remaining and secured their place in the tournament final.

2. Chris Gayle – 47 Balls vs England

On March 16, 2016, at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Chris Gayle produced one of the most destructive innings in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup history. West Indies chased a challenging target of 183 runs against the England national cricket team in the Super 10 stage. Gayle dominated the bowling from the start and cleared the boundary repeatedly.

He blasted 11 massive sixes and reached his century in just 47 balls, registering the second-fastest hundred in T20 World Cup history. Gayle remained unbeaten on 100 and powered the West Indies national cricket team to a six-wicket victory with 11 balls remaining.

3. Chris Gayle – 50 Balls vs South Africa 

Chris Gayle made history in the very first match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2007. Playing against the South Africa national cricket team, Gayle opened the batting and played an outstanding innings. He scored a century in 50 balls and finished with 117 runs from 57 balls, hitting seven fours and ten sixes. With this knock, he became the first player to score a century in T20 World Cup history.

Gayle also built a strong 145-run opening partnership with Devon Smith, which helped the West Indies national cricket team post a big total of 205/6. However, South Africa successfully chased the target in 17.4 overs. Herschelle Gibbs scored an unbeaten 90 runs and guided his team to an eight-wicket victory.

4. Harry Brook – 50 Balls vs Pakistan 

Harry Brook delivered a memorable performance for the England national cricket team during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Batting at number three, Brook smashed his way to 100 runs off just 50 balls, hitting 10 fours and 4 sixes along the way. and became the first-ever captain to score a century in the T20 World Cup.

This knock became the fourth-fastest century in T20 World Cup history and also helped Brook complete centuries in all three formats of international cricket. 

5. Brendon McCullum – 51 Balls vs Bangladesh

Brendon McCullum delivered a powerful batting display, scoring the highest-ever individual score against. He reached his hundred in just 51 balls and kept going, finishing with 123 runs off only 58 balls. He hit 11 fours and 7 sixes all over the ground, scoring at a strike rate of 212.

McCullum attacked the bowlers throughout the innings and smashed a century in 51 balls, making it the fifth-fastest hundred in T20 World Cup history. He struck 11 fours and 7 sixes during his explosive knock. His innings helped the New Zealand national cricket team post 191/3 and secure a convincing 59-run victory.
