PBKS won the toss and elected to bowl. KKR reached a total of 261 runs for the loss of six wickets. Phil Salt and Sunil Narine had a partnership of 138 runs for the first wicket.

On May 1, 2021, CSK faced MI in the 27th match of the season. MI won the toss and elected to bowl. Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, and Ambati Rayudu scored a half-century each and led CSK to a total of 218 runs for the loss of four wickets.
