Blackwell form continues against Durham UCCE

Having made the move from Somerset to Durham during the winter Ian was keen to make an impact early on, “it’s a big move for me and I’m obviously wanting to make an early impression and to get a hundred at Lord’s and to get 40 odd not out on a difficult wicket , I’m very pleased.  I’m more consistent now than I’ve ever been so for me that’s a very pleasing time in my game.

“It’s always nice to get your first few innings underway in the new season and it’s good to get out there in the middle for some valuable time before the Championship kicks off is perfect for the start of the season,” said Blackwell.

The team is keen to get the most out of this match ahead of next week’s opening County Championship fixture against Yorkshire at Riverside.  “ We don’t want to be upstaged by Durham University  but to be fair, they bowled pretty well but we need to get what we can out of it leading up to the first championship game and that means all the bowlers getting necessary  spells under their belts and batsmen having a good hit.  We’re fighting hard and the result does matter.”
