Davies to undergo ankle surgery

Davies incurred the injury in his left ankle whilst in New Zealand with England Lions and while early scans suggested a soft tissue problem at the back of the ankle, further investigation has shown that a piece of bone needs to be removed as it is causing an impingement problem.

Davies has been scheduled to have the operation at the earliest opportunity, most likely next week, and it is expected that he could be out for up to two months.

Durham CCC Head Coach, Geoff Cook, said, “We really feel for Mark, he played really well last season and throughout the winter, so this is really disappointing for him.  We look forward to him rejoining our strong bowling attack later in the season.”
