Durham squad arrive at Lord’s

It’s the first time the team have played at Lord’s since their victorious Friends Provident Trophy campaign in 2007.  As the visiting team, Durham are in the same dressing room they had for the FPT final, and handily the pitch that has been prepared for that match is directly in front of the balcony.

The team quickly got changed into their training gear so they could get in an hour or two of practice.  The lads started the session with a quick game of football on the nursery pitch before hitting the nets and doing some fielding drills.

In the Media Centre BBC Radio Newcastle’s Martin Emmerson was busily setting up in advance of their bulletins from Lord’s.  Martin will also be doing stints for Lord’s ball by ball commentary which can be accessed via the Lord’s website.

This evening Dale Benkenstein will officially be presented with his Player of the Year accolade at the Wisden dinner.

The match starts at 11.00am tomorrow and new captain Will Smith will lead the team, as the Champion County, onto the field for the first time, ‘I couldn’t be more proud – it’s going to be a very exciting day.   I noticed the date on the fixtures when they were released and it’s something I have been looking forward to”, said Smith

A thirteen man squad has travelled for tomorrow’s match and the starting eleven will be listed here just after the toss.
