Durham v Hampshire 2XI Friendly Day 1

Hampshire were bowled out for 227, fifty short of Durham’s first innings score, with Chris Rushworth taking 4-57 off his 20 overs.

Mark Davies and Paul Hindmarch picked up two wickets apiece, with Gidman picking up one scalp and the remaining batsman falling foul of a run out.

Durham managed to get in forty overs played in the time remaining with Ben Stokes punishing the Hampshire attack scoring a brilliant 130 off 126 balls, including 14 fours and four sixes.  Scores in the thirties from Lee Goddard and Will Gidman proved valuable as Durham ended day two in a favourable position on 328-6, with Paul Muchall (34*) set to return to the crease with Paul Hindmarch.

Paul Muchall was the pick of the Durham batting line up after posting 84, Karl Turner and Mark Wood both contributed fifties while Karl Turner was just short after being trapped lbw by Morgan.  Balcome picked up 5-38 off his 17.5 overs with Durham all out for 277.

Hampshire were 125-3 at the close of play on day one with Mark Davies, who was making his first playing appearance since returning from injury, taking a wicket with his first ball.
