Durham v Yorkshire Latest News

Callum Thorp and Graham Onions opened the bowling for Durham with Thorp claiming the first wicket leaving Yorkshire 33-1 after half an hour.  Michael Vaughan (43) was bowled by Gareth Breese in his third over, with Yorkshire 110-2 after 24 overs.

Ian Blackwell bowled top scorer Rudolph on 73 and Liam Plunkett took the scalp of McGrath (18) in the bowling power play. After 40 overs Yorkshire were 177-5.  Yorkshire finished their innings on 268-7 (Brophy 66* and Pyrah 5*).

During the interval the Riverside, Chester le Street band entertained the crowds while almost one hundred children participated in the Under 13 Bowl Out Cup, the results of which will appear on the website later.  Neil Killeen was on hand to offer encouragement to the Bowl Out Cup teams and to distribute certificates to those youngsters that had participated in a pre match coaching camp at Riverside this morning. 

Dale Benkenstein top scored before being caught by Michael Vaughan off the bowling of Tim Bresnan on 68.  Gareth Breese, Michael Di Venuto and Will Smith all posted scores in the twenties.
