Geoff Cook: Next week’s match is crucial

“The rain was very frustrating and we had to work very hard to get into a pretty strong position in the game.

“We didn’t quite capitalise on that when we came out to bowl second time around, with little luck and the ball missing the outside edge quite a few times. But with a lead of about 50 still we would have liked to have built on it over the last two days but the weather hasn’t worked out.

“It’s been very frustrating sitting around watching the consistent rain and drizzle.  It was interesting to see the wicket turn on the first day of the match here at Riverside. Blackwell bowled a great spell 5-7 which was a turning point in the match and Chanderpaul’s knock was a world class innings without exaggerating.

“Next weeks match against Notts at Riverside will be crucial in deciding where the LV County Championship will go this year, it’s important that we are nailed on and tuned in for this match and playing some good positive, aggressive cricket from the first ball”, said Cook.
