Plunkett claims three wickets at New Road on day one

“Hopefully I can pick up a few more wickets and reach the fifty mark for the season.  I was disappointed to have gone for as many runs as I did today.

“We managed to get a few wickets early but their batsmen managed to stick in.  It was a hard long day so hopefully we can come in and pick up that last wicket early in the morning.

“Worcestershire wanted to come out here and score runs, get hundreds.  We didn’t expect them to lie down – we came here expecting a tough game. It was a good effort from them today. I think we were a bit off par.  We were a bit sloppy in the field and our bowling wasn’t as good as it has been.

“It’s one of those pitches, there aren’t many two’s on here, if it got past the infield it was going for 4.  It’s always nice to have runs on the board so hopefully we can come out with the batters we’ve got and graft hard to get past their total.

“Our aim at the start of the game was to come down and win it so we can say we’ve gone through the season unbeaten which would be a great achievement. It would be great to sit down at the end of the season as Champions and deserve it having not been beaten”, said Plunkett.
