Plunkett: We are going for the win

Despite a draw being enough to secure the title the side will come out all guns blazing to ensure a second Championship victory over Notts in 2009.

“The batters have scored a few runs over the last few days so it’s nice to come in and take a few wickets and put us in with a chance of winning it tomorrow, “ said Plunkett. “ It was great for me to come out and get a few maidens and bowl a tight line so I really enjoyed that.  My target is to get more consistent so hopefully I can do that, go for less runs and take some wickets.   I’m loving cricket at the minute – I just want to get more consistent. ”

“Not getting picked for Durham last season was heartbreaking.  I’ve been here since I was 16 so this year, to play most of the games when I’ve been fit is awesome.  Hopefully we can wrap it up tomorrow and to be a part of that means so much to me”, Plunkett added.

“Notts have got a great squad, they’ve shown that in the last couple of years, so we know it’s going to be hard.    We’re going to come back tomorrow and do the same as we did today.  We’ve got to be patient and bowl our lines.  Everyone is looking forward to a rest tonight and coming back tomorrow and finishing it off.

“There were a few dropped catches and a few carries that made it past the slips through the gaps but that’s cricket and I’m sure in the morning Geoff will be telling us where we need to improve.

“Hopefully we can win, it’s a massive thing.  We came into this game to win it – not to just get the points that we needed, that’s what Geoff has hammered into us over the last few days” he said.

Admission is free at Riverside tomorrow, with gates opening at 9.00am.
