Sri Lanka Women embark on a historic tour of Bangladesh starting April 20, 2026, featuring three ODIs and three T20Is across two venues.

This marks the first-ever bilateral series between these teams on Bangladeshi soil, with the ODI leg forming part of the ICC Women’s Championship pathway to the 2029 Cricket World Cup.

Captain Chamari Athapaththu leads a formidable Sri Lankan side against Nigar Sultana’s Bangladesh, who return to ODI cricket after their 2025 World Cup campaign.

The T20I series also serves as crucial preparation for both teams ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, beginning June 12.

Venue Statistics & Pitch Reports

Both venues offer distinct conditions that could influence team strategies throughout the series.

Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium, Rajshahi (ODIs):

This 15,000-capacity venue in northern Bangladesh hosts its first women’s international series. The pitch traditionally offers assistance to spinners as the match progresses, with the surface slowing down in the second innings.

Average first innings scores in domestic cricket hover around 220-240. Captains winning the toss typically prefer batting first to post competitive totals before the pitch deteriorates.

Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (T20Is):

A proven venue for women’s cricket, Sylhet hosted the 2014 ICC Women’s World T20 and 2022 Women’s T20 Asia Cup. Meg Lanning’s 126 off 65 balls remains the highest individual score here in WT20Is.

Inoka Ranaweera holds the bowling record with 13 wickets in 10 T20Is at this venue, giving Sri Lanka a psychological edge. Average first innings scores range between 120-135, with spinners controlling the middle overs.
