The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 stage begins February 21, with eight teams competing across 12 matches until March 1. Following 40 group stage games in India and Sri Lanka, the tournament enters its decisive phase.

The biggest upset saw two-time champions Australia eliminated after losses to Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, with Zimbabwe taking their pre-seeded Group 1 spot alongside defending champions India.

All eight teams reset to zero points, giving every side an equal shot at the semi-finals. The top two teams from each Super 8 group will advance to the knockout rounds.

How Teams Earn Points:

  • Win: 2 points
  • No Result/Tie: 1 point each team
  • Loss: 0 points

Net Run Rate (NRR) Explained: NRR acts as the main tiebreaker when teams finish level on points. Teams calculate it by subtracting runs conceded per over from runs scored per over across all matches.

A higher NRR shows stronger performance and becomes vital in tight qualification battles.

Qualification Criteria For T20 World Cup Knockouts
