About Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad

Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, also known as Uppal Stadium, is a major cricket ground in Hyderabad, Telangana. It is owned by the Hyderabad Cricket Association and is the home ground of Sunrisers Hyderabad. The stadium can seat around 39,200 people and spans 15 acres.

It hosted the IPL finals in 2017 and 2019, and also hosted matches during the 2023 Cricket World Cup. In IPL 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored their highest total here, 277/3 against the Mumbai Indians. SRH have a strong record at this ground, winning 36 out of 58 matches.

The pitch here is usually flat and good for batting, which helps players play big shots. As the match goes on, the pitch becomes slower, and spinners start getting more help.

How to Reach the Stadium

Parking is not available at the venue. Fans are advised to use public transport to reach the stadium.

  • By Metro: The MGBS and Uppal metro stations on the Blue Line are the most convenient options. Uppal Station is a short walk from the stadium gates and is the recommended choice on match nights to avoid heavy traffic.
  • By Road: The stadium is located in Uppal, in the eastern part of Hyderabad. It is well connected by road to all major areas of the city, including Secunderabad, Banjara Hills, and HITEC City. 
  • By Air: Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is approximately 30 to 35 km from the stadium. Taxis and ride-sharing services run from the airport to Uppal.
