Tilak Varma carved his name into IPL history during the Mumbai Indians vs Gujarat Titans clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium on April 20.
The 23 year old smashed an unbeaten 101 off just 45 balls to become the first Mumbai Indians batter to outscore an entire opposition team in a single match.
Moreover, Tilak joined an exclusive IPL list as only the 9th batter overall to achieve this rare feat. Gujarat Titans were bundled out for 100 in their chase of 200, one run short of Tilak’s solo effort.
How Tilak Varma Outscored the Entire Gujarat Titans Team

Mumbai Indians slipped to 46/3 inside the powerplay after Kagiso Rabada ripped through the top order with figures of 3/33. However, Tilak stitched a composed partnership with Naman Dhir, who contributed a valuable 45 off 32 balls.
Furthermore, Tilak started cautiously with just 19 runs off his first 22 deliveries. He then exploded in the back half of the innings, smashing 82 runs in his next 23 balls.
Consequently, his knock featured 8 fours and 7 sixes at a staggering strike rate of 224.44. MI finished at 199/5, with 77 runs coming in the final five overs alone.

Gujarat Titans Collapse Hands MI a 99 Run Win
Jasprit Bumrah set the tone by dismissing Sai Sudharsan off the very first ball of the chase. Additionally, Hardik Pandya removed Jos Buttler in the next over to tighten the grip. Meanwhile, Ashwani Kumar returned to the XI and picked up four wickets to tear through the middle order.
Only Washington Sundar offered resistance with 26 off 17 balls, as GT folded for 100 in 15 overs. Therefore, Tilak’s 101 not only rescued MI but also eclipsed the opposition’s complete total.
